99% of intruders run away at the sound of a BIG dog bark. I like motion lights around the perimeter as well. My yard will light up from any angle of approach.
That said, I'm not sure anything but deadly force will be effective against the "home invasion" style of robberies happening today.

Just the sound of my two 120 pound dogs barking puts the fear of God into anyone that has experienced it. I got a note from my UPS driver....
The only problem is the off switch. When I yell "friend" I wish they would stop barking immediatley. That doesn't happen.
