Lights can be useful; some of the lights for pistols are very high intensity - good for blinding the target. They also help with aiming.

It also lets them or whoever is with them know exactly where you are.

My daughter opted for the laser sighting, partly because she had no voice at the time she bought her gun. The laser counts as giving the bad guy “fair warning” when she could not do so vocally.

Absolutely! A bright flashlight in the eyes makes the person you are pointing it unable to determine your exact position and it illuminates the target. Win/Win

My Kimber .45 has Crimson Trace lazer built in to the hand grip.
Nice.
I hit where the red dot goes.

Tracers and laser sights work both ways.

Springfield XDs 3.3” .45 with Big Dot night sights and a Streamlight TLR-3 is my nightstand weapon. EDC: Big Dot sights only on all of my handguns. No lasers.

(before all y’all self righteous guys come on and tell me I need to carry, I live in a place that places severe restrictions on such rights and kind of need my job)

No, you need A job, it doesn't have to be the one you have right now.

Employers are hiring in Nevada, we have open carry and no state income tax.

This is a good discussion. I’ve been looking at laser mount especially for nighttime, As I am slower than I used to be as far as aim.

.410 pump action shotgun for home defense, not pistol.

I’ve got one of those and a Rottweiler. They’ve got a simple code of conduct;any part of your body outside the house you get to keep.Anything inside the house belongs to us.

It just seems to me that the flashlight is like illuminating yourself as a target. I think that’s been over done on tv. There’s quite enough ambient light around my home without that. But I do go for the laser. It helps to zero in my target at night.

Nope, I have enough problems living my own life.

You do have options, unless you are in a prison work program...

I don’t use a laser on my 12 gauge pump....just sayin’.

If you don't think you need to aim a shotgun at normal room or hallway distances, you're fooling yourself.

At 30', bigger than just about any room or hallway in all but the McMansioniest of homes, the pattern from bird or buckshot is under 10". At 15', the size of most typical rooms, the pattern can be as tight as 2".

Laserlyte makes a very nice shotgun laser that approximates the size of your pattern on different distance targets.
