A Palestinian terrorist who opened fire and injured at least five people in Israel’s Petah Tikva on Thursday was subdued by a sewing machine.
The Times of Israel reports an 18-year-old opened fire at a bus and stabbed a man near the market on Baron Hirsh Street. One person was shot in the leg while two more were injured by shrapnel. In total, eight people were treated at a local hospital.
According to the Times of Israel, the attacker used an improvised firearm made out of water pipes and spare parts, which made it unreliable. An eyewitness allegedly saw the terrorist attempt to fire on patrons in a store, but the gun jammed.
Ynetnews reports the terrorist ran down the street while firing. He eventually reached a sewing machine repair shop, where he began to try to stab people with screwdrivers. The attacker was then subdued after someone threw a sewing machine at him.
Eyewitnesses allegedly saw the terrorist lying on the ground and yelling, “Help, help!” after being hit with the sewing machine.
Another eyewitness said, “We heard a lot of gunfire, people were running at every direction. Some chased after the terrorist.”
Magen David Adom paramedic Azaria Cohen told Ynetnews, “I saw a commotion and people running after the terrorist.”
“Along with other MDA paramedics, we chased after the terrorist on motorcycles,” he continued.
Victim Avi Asaf, who was stabbed in the neck by the terrorist, recounted, “I heard gunfire and people shouting 'Terrorist, terrorist!' The terrorist ran and I chased him for two or three blocks with four other people.”
Hamas has praised the terrorist attack as a “natural result” of Israel’s policies, but it has not taken responsibility for the attack.
Back in March, a man who was stabbed in the neck by a Palestinian terrorist in Petah Tikvah managed to pull the knife out of his neck and kill his attacker.

Boy is the perp going to get “needled” in jail esp. when the evidence presented in court helps the case get sewn up tight.
