Americans want to 'live big' in the Trump era, Nobel Prize winner says
CNBC ^ | December 21, 2016 | Robert Frank

In the Trump era, excess is in and modesty is out.

After years of stealth wealth, humility and downsizing, the president-elect is ushering in a new era of living large, Nobel Prize-winning economist Robert Shiller said Wednesday.

"We used to be more into modest living," the Yale professor told CNBC, speaking about the years after the financial crisis. "Now people are thinking, '[that] doesn't work.' You know? You have to live big-league and you're on your way."

While there's no empirical evidence pointing to this shift, Shiller said the excitement is visible at Trump rallies and in the stock market. Despite a slight dip on Wednesday, the Dow Jones industrial average remained near 20,000.

Shiller's comments add to budding sentiment that America's new billionaire-in-chief — with his gold-plated penthouse, private jumbo jet and multiple mansions — could shift American attitudes away from inequality and toward the 1980s-style aspiration and worship of wealth....

After Carter came Reagan.

So after Obaba comes Trump.

People have had enough being kicked in the balls.
Time to ice them down.

While there's no empirical evidence pointing to this shift,

Of course not.

This is Fake News.

Stupid lefties. They live lives of luxury and splendor, but expect the rest of us to live like paupers, and accept it! Screw them. We’re Americans. We’re the greatest people to ever grace this planet. Why shouldn’t we expect the best because we are the best!

No, we’d rather live small, with no savings, no job, no future for our kids, dependent on the EBT and hoping Obamacare makes our death relatively pain-free. That’s what the liberals and Hillary would have given us instead.

Many Americans had to live small because of Odumbo and his traitorous policies bankrupting the country so it’s not that we’re “used to living modestly”, it’s not like it was by choice except for dumb hipsters who want to live in “tiny houses” i.e. sheds. We’re reclaiming our country and our tradition of succeeding generations having a better life than the preceding. This is the real normal not Zero’s “new normal” where we all have to live like Soviet Peasants.

We don’t want to live “big.” We want to live in freedom.

Yale professor

Professors at Yale University have an average annual salary of $256,729. This salary is a projection of salary for teaching a full twelve month year.

It’s been all downhill since Ronald Reagan left office. People are tired of it.

“...there’s no empirical evidence...”

Dollars to donuts Shiller moonlights as a “global warming scientist.”

We want to live free and wealthy enough to invest to restore our Middle Class that zero and the globalists have purpously destroyed.

Americans had to sell everything to survive the last 8 years, no money to invest, no money to advance their children.

That’s OVER. Cut 40% of .gov employees, make them sell THEIR stuff, move in with THEIR parents while the private sector recovers and wealth is restored.

60% sounds better for an initial cut.

>>Americans had to sell everything to survive the last 8 years, no money to invest, no money to advance their children.<<

Americans who lived paycheck to paycheck because they had over spent their budget on ten or more different credit cards, had to sell everything to survive the last 8 years, no money to invest, no money to advance their children.

On the other hand Americans who invested their savings while living under the level of their neighbors, the Joneses had very few problems.

A lot did use their homes as ATMs, and when their foreclosures destroyed property values for those around them who lived frugally, there was no respite for them.

Now the US left will show its Veblenite roots. They’ll reprint all of Vance Packard’s books from the 50s and 60s.

I very fondly remember the 1990’s. And it wasn’t just nostalgia. Things really WERE better even under that adulterous clown Clinton in almost every possible way.

Hell I can’t even watch almost anything on tv post-2000 because it’s usually chock full of pro-faggotry, profanity, promiscuity or all three!
