A senior employee at computer giant IBM has quit her job and publicly condemned her former boss, in one example of what can happen when the leaders of a business choose to get involved in politics.
The employee decided to resign from her position at IBM after the company’s chief executive Ginni Rometty published an open letter to US President-elect Donald Trump following his election win.
In her own open letter published on NewCo, senior content strategist in IBM’s corporate marketing department Elizabeth Wood said she could no longer work for a company “that would ignore the real needs of its workforce”.
Rometty’s letter congratulated Trump and outlined “ideas that I believe will help achieve the aspiration you articulated and that can advance a national agenda in a time of profound change”.
“I know that you are committed to help America’s economy grow in ways that are good for all its people,” Rometty said in her letter.
In her response, Wood slammed Rometty’s letter, claiming it showed “a willingness to legitimise threats to our country for financial gain”.
“Your letter offered the backing of IBM’s global workforce in support of his agenda that preys on marginalised people and threatens my wellbeing as a woman, a Latina and a concerned citizen,” Wood said.
“The President-elect has demonstrated contempt for immigrants, veterans, people with disabilities, Black, Latinx, Jewish, Muslim and LGBTQ communities. These groups comprise a growing portion of the company you lead, Ms. Rometty. They work every day for IBM’s success and have been silenced by your words.”
Rometty’s letter offered a number of suggestions to President-elect Trump, including a focus on vocational education and “new collar” jobs, taking care of veterans, and building better infrastructure to support Internet of Things integration.
Rometty signs off by saying she hopes the ideas offered “represent ways that we can work together to achieve prosperity that is broadly shared in our society”.
Wood argued the future of IBM hinges on an “inclusive and welcoming culture”, and criticised Rometty after she did not mention the company’s diverse culture in the open letter to Trump. Wood said her decision to leave IBM did not come lightly and that she is leaving without a backup offer or safety net.
“What I do have is the knowledge that my own life—and those of the several hundred thousand who serve your company worldwide—are too valuable to waste at an organisation where we are not respected,” she says.
“It is my belief that you owe your staff and the President-elect a public clarification on IBM’s commitment to the protection and representation of all of its employees.”

They could have happily sinned away their lives in private if they insisted. That was, in fact, going on for all of the 20th century. It’s in accord with the Old Testament bible dictum: nobody shall be put to death except on the testimony of 2 or 3 witnesses. Paraphrased, it needed to be notorious. (And it also applied to certain other sacrilegious behavior, not just homosexuality.)
What happened was that agitators stirred them up in unison, heading towards a Sodom-like situation. And good little lefty screechers got on board championing these movements.
Well, God seems to have said: Whoa! Don’t make Me dump America down the tubes for this.
The result is a very astonishing blessing. God is blessing those lefties right out of their high perches.

Why do I think this person was a diversity hire with a degree in agitation studies. Her letter is a cut and paste typical anti-Trump rant. I know it’s wrong but I want to see these idiots poor angry hungry and homeless as they watch the rest of the world go by.
In Corporate America, this is one of those titles that hangs on the door to an otherwise useless, dead-end position. She must have seen the writing on the wall.
Hopefully, she won't be able to get a job now, or at least one that pays MUCH less than the one she quit, because she's such a melting snowflake and who, in their right mind, wants this cupcake as an employee !

In worldly terms, certainly, she deserved it.
It’s up to her, however, what to do with the rising tide. She COULD patch the hole she drilled in the bottom of her boat. She could be anonymous again with some effort. Not all potential employers even google the web, because there’s so much bogus stuff out there.
Everyone who did not support Trump should quit their job.

My (Jewish, Latina, female) wife proudly voted for Trump. Oh, yeah, she arrived here legally in 1999, and became a citizen about 10 years ago. She doesn’t like the idea that a bunch of lawbreakers should get a free pass at what she had to wait and pay for, just because they are from the same region in which she grew up, speak the same language and shares a birth culture. My wife has adapted and assimilated into America - and though she keeps talking Spanish to her friends, relatives and our kids and is proud of her Mexican heritage, she has stated that she’ll never live in Mexico again...she’s an American.
This beotch can go suck an egg, or join Madonna on her, uh, “thank you for voting for Hillary” tour.

The IBM head is smart to write the letter. Their competition, - Meg Whitman, HP Enterprise, former Republican Governor of CA candidate, dumped the party and actively campaigned and raised money for Hillary.
Guess which company will have positive attention now.
