Post Editing
Self ^ | 12/2/2016 | Self

I'm looking for Free Republic post editing software. I just upgraded to a new computer with the same OS and loaded the Tree Viewer and Quote maker but the post editing software that showed up before no longer does.

Being able to add images or just do simple things like bold or italicize a word is huge and frankly common to all forums these days.

Anyone have a link to a working post editing addon for Firefox?

Don’t see anything for text color.

select Font and insert color = "red" right behind the first font

Simple HTML online editor

Move your mouse over the buttons seen there for popup descriptions.

Fancy online editor

Copy and paste the post with the html code into this forum and click on Preview button to make any corrections if needed.

You will need to use html if you want to post an image.
You write out your post. Highlight the text you want as bold then click the ‘B’ button. For hyperlinks you paste in the link then highlight then click on the ‘Link’ button (looks like a chain). To view the code you click on the ‘Source’ button in the upper left.

For an image you copy the web address hyperlink of the image then paste into the editor then highlight the hyperlink then click on the button that looks like a mountain image with a dot in upper left. A screen pops up. Paste the hyperlink there in the URL field and click ok.

Copy and paste that code into the ‘Your Reply’ box here at Free Republic then click on the Preview button to double check. If it looks good then click on the Post button.

I forgot to add that you can add text then highlight that text then click on 'Link' button and paste in the hyperlink if you do not want to display the sometimes long URL.

And I want it to be accessible on iPhones and iPads. That would be so cool.

Is there anything like this for iOS?

I agree with you. Freeping on an iPhone, especially posting, is a living hell. I haven’t found a browser that allows you to even see what you are typing.

I cannot believe that Firefox users are not aware of this simple trick. Highlight the text you want to copy, right click and click on View Selection Source. Another page will pop up with all the coding in place. Copy and Paste the Highlighted text.

No one here needs to know HTML at all to post here. But if learning a few basic HTML strings to post a pic or a URL link is too much then, by all means, use an automated tool. Personally, I use the Firefox "BBCode" extension to paste in the few HTML strings I use.

I wasn't trying to be snarky. I was only agreeing with 'canalabamian'. Sorry if it came off otherwise.

That’s a pretty dang handy tool. Thanks for posting. I think the BBCode extension is easier but I may use both.

If you play with it you’ll see that you can post entire articles with all of the URLs and pictures in one sweep. If you want to edit the article then do it is sections.
