I'm looking for Free Republic post editing software. I just upgraded to a new computer with the same OS and loaded the Tree Viewer and Quote maker but the post editing software that showed up before no longer does.
Being able to add images or just do simple things like bold or italicize a word is huge and frankly common to all forums these days.
Anyone have a link to a working post editing addon for Firefox?
On the Forum homepage look up top under the topics paragrapgh. “HTML Sandbox” should link you to directions for most of your questions. I hope is helpful.
Thank you but I think you missed the point. I don’t want to type any HTML or other code and I shouldn’t be expected to in this modern era of the Internet and forums in general.
If you go to any other forum there will be an editing software built right in to click on the various functions like to make text bigger or smaller, to italicize words or make them bold, or insert an image (most of them will even host the image), etc. etc. No coding necessary because 99.999999999999% of the people who use these forums have no interest in doing all that extra typing or even learning how to code nor should they be expected to.
Suck it up, buttercup.
...even learning how to code nor should they be expected to.
The cream rises to the top and you have an extra skill in life.
Yeah, I got your buttercup hanging, now if the insults are done by the rude ones let’s move on to a solution.
Here is a simple editor and why it isn’t part of FR by now is a mystery. As far as I know it’s free. Anyone can use it then copy and paste into a post but it should already be embedded into the posting software. An extremely easy thing to do for any code jockey.

An even simpler one: http://www.quackit.com/html/html_editors/tinymce_editor.cfm
I know there’s a way to introduce this code or script into Firefox so I don’t have to open a separate page to do it but not being a code jockey and having zero desire to learn it; I’m looking for help not insults. If all you have is insults; keep it to yourself.
By the way; this is nothing new, I found this stuff in the “Sandbox” linked to earlier. (Thanks)
If I may rephrase your point, this is an ad-free, donor-supported site for aggregating news and commentary. If "buttercup" wants to make a donation that will cover the cost of editing software, I'm sure Jim Rob will upgrade Free Republic with the desired features. Otherwise, the sensible choice is to be grateful for a streamlined site with no distractions and nonsense. I've been to http://www.breitbart.com/ and I do not want FR to be that cluttered just to pay for a slicker interface.
It’s not as easy to embed that into FR posting as you seem to think. If you remember our glitch with nonstandard characters (even the wrong style quote marks), and how long that took to fix, that illustrates why coding to work with so many different browsers and versions, including future upgrades, can be an unexpected challenge.
If you're so dissatisfied why are you still here? Simply leave. All of your problems are solved.
... Im looking for help not insults.
I gave you help! "...you have an extra skill in life."
Learn, don't yearn.
May all the Gods bless you! :)
Testing... Hot babe adding oil to her car's engine.
See #6, Boomer.
Like watering a plant. Grow, little engine, grow.
Your comment is SO funny and true. I did a bit of thread hosting here until a new job started consuming every waking hour. But, what I learned in html formatting has “amazed” my peers at this new job. It has opened up a whole new world in how we can improve a software/database package we have.
Oh, you want big red text, done.
For those who may do a search in the future to help with your post editing needs; this addon isn't perfect but it's a LOT better than learning to code. It should be at the top of the Sandbox thread. Once you learn to click on the "P" for every line break it becomes easy. Any use of the editor will require the use of the "P" (I think it means paragraph break but I'm not sure). Not like typing all kinds of off the wall symbols most people don't even know where are on the keyboard.
For you folks who like to type in all that code; more power to you. I hope it makes you feel all superior or something...
Close to fifty years ago, my high school buddy had let his little sister drive his european Opal Rally Sport. It over heated and she put water in what she thought was the Radiator Cap. It was toward the front and centered in the engine bay — however...
It was only driven about three blocks, but that is quite a chore to try and fix.
Thanks for recognizing the humor I intended in my reply.
Oh, you want big red text, done.
It really is simple, isn't it.
Spell check doesn't fix everything.
I hope it makes you feel all superior or something...
Skilled at something? Cool!
Agreed. Learn some basic HTML. It's easy.
