When I Tell Men I Would Never Get an Abortion, Their Reaction Is Infuriating

Men who want to have sex with women who aren't interested in taking pills or getting abortions need to strap it up, wrap it up, or get a vasectomy.

When I was 24, I decided against using hormonal birth control or getting an abortion unless absolutely medically necessary. At that time, I was dating and having sex with a man for about six months. We always used condoms, but that did not completely eliminate the possibility that I could become pregnant if we slipped up. So, I figured I was obligated to tell him about the choices I'd made.

“If I get pregnant, abortion isn’t going to be an option, OK?” I turned what should have been a statement into a question and I don’t know why. Maybe to make it more palatable for him? To make it seem as if he had a choice in the matter when he didn’t really? I also told him that I would not ever take the pill. It was, after all, my body.

He was not particularly happy about my revelations.

“But I’m really not ready for kids,” he responded shrewdly.

I shrugged and told him that I wasn’t either and that meant we should be extra-careful.

My response was not enough to settle his concerns, though. He still felt very troubled, and it even became a point of contention in our relationship. He felt as if I was taking away some hypothetical choice from him, and, of course, taking away the freedom to occasionally have unprotected sex without repercussion.

Persevero, the LORD bless you for your incredible service on the front lines of the battle between the forces of God and the forces of Satan. What a life and soul saver crisis pregnancy centers are.

maybe date someone who wont have sex until marriage.

flip side, we are always supposed to take whatever the woman shoves at us sex-wise.

both sides can be asscans and selfish and care zero for the other, but only women get a pass on theirs.

I, for one, can no longer deal with all of these emotional guys trying to pressure me into birth control options I'm not comfortable with. Men need options that will put them in charge of their own procreation. That time will only come when they stand up and demand it, and when they are finally as committed to getting male birth control as they are committed to trying to tell women what to do with their bodies.

Gee, did it ever occur to her that she continued to be the "jackass that men like to ride", as her Trinidadian grandma put it? The truth is that NO birth control method is 100% effective - other than abstinence. It would do a lot of good in this world if women realized how much they degrade themselves by being the sexual toys of men and they learned to respect themselves and the power they possess to re-civilize society. "Free sex" is really not. The Sexual Revolution of the sixties started the downward spiral.

and nowadays getting married has zero upside for men. everything is so adversarial and women are conditioned to always compete with men, husbands have to ask permission to pee in their own house.

Foreign women can be wonderful wives and aren’t like American women, even after becoming citizens. I know a number of these married women from conservative cultures who appreciate decent US men.

"It HAS liberated men from any responsibility though."

Nope! Men are entirely subservient to the women they have sex with if they conceive a child. If she wants to abort and he doesn't he can't stop her and if the opposite is true he pays child support for 18 years.

An especially painful story I remember reading here years ago (or on another board, I don’t remember anymore) came from a man who had married a Russian or Ukrainian woman, and they had just had their first child. Still in recovery, she took the infant in her arms, looked at it for a moment...and came completely unglued.

In the Soviet Union, where she had grown up, abortion was the standard form of birth control. It turned out that she had had two abortions along the way...and this was the first moment she had realized what she had done.

Tiffanie, maybe you should act like a woman a man would want to marry instead of a woman a man would want for a night. Unfortunately, the man’s reaction is like saying “I don’t want you for a life partner”. If that’s the case, maybe you should revoke visitor privileges if you know what I mean.

Not true of all women and the upside is children, companionship and growing old with someone. Believe it or not it does happen.

MrR and I have been happily married for 20 years known each other for 41 and cannot imagine our lives without each other. OF course we are Christian married couple.

And if women quit acting like whores then men would have another incentive to get married.

No fault divorce makes it too easy for people to leave. It happens to people over time. There should only be fault divorce.

We were small potatoes at the time. I probably did three women a week for like three years, so approx. 450

MrR always says the sexual revolution freed the men first.

He's right. However, if you read the writings of the earliest feminists they were adamantly against abortion because they saw that it sacrificed the life of the innocent child while endangering the mother all so that the father of the child could avoid his responsibility. Sadly, today there are millions of children who never know their fathers nor receive any kind of financial support from him. So, in a way, they STILL avoid responsibility. There is really no such thing as consequence-free sex. There is ALWAYS a price to be paid one way or another.
