Eric, from Moss Pawn & Gun, attempts to burn out an AR-15 upper on an M16 lower. There are several specific products being used including: SRC Relia-Bolt BCG, Geissele Super Gas Block and an AR barrel from Faxon Firearms. Eric also uses steel-based ammunition because it's pretty rough on the bolts.
There are so many things that can go wrong. Gas tubes are designed to fail before the firearm will be destroyed. Watch the video to find out what happens, you won’t be disappointed!

I have, on a few occasions, fired an M16 until the gas tube glowed red.
I have burned my hand several times grabbing the hot barrel of my AR. It sucks, and smells bad!
That was fun. Not tempted to try it myself though.

In my defense I was young, and I only took it out twice a year.
Now I have young children, and I take it our never.
One thing I really did not like about the Ak-74 after firing full auto: that forward stock is so small, you better not miss grabbing it. A lot of exposed barrel and gas tube up there right next to it.

Initially he’s not cycling the charging handle because of any malfunction, he’s using the charging handle as a magazine release because the mount he’s using to hold the weapon obscures the mag release button.
Magazine #14 (~420 rounds) the hand guard catches fire. The carbine keeps running.
Somewhere about this same time but I failed to note the magazine count, there’s a single round “cook-off.”
Magazine #25 the cyclic rate has slowed noticeably.
Magazine #27 (~810 rounds) autoloading fails because the gas tube has heated to the plastic state and collapsed.
Magazine #28 carbine continues to run in single shot mode.
After the test, the barrel was still serviceable.
Dang! Never expected the barrel to blow.
For a meltdown just fire it once in the presence of a “journalist.”

Right below the second paragraph I am looking at the video. On the right sideline I am seeing four advertisements, none of which are blinking or expand when I hover the mouse over them.
I use Firefox,AdBlock Plus and Pop-Up Ultimate Blocker to view this website. At night when I am about to shut down I use CCleaner and MRU Blaster to get rid of all the different type of cookies and telltale invasive software. It take me maybe two minutes to do that.
If an ad isn’t moving, flashing or attracting your attention by some other means you don’t have to read it. I don’t care if they want to take up half the page with their ad, I just ignore it.
