Southern Ohio Trip Report -- Trump Signs
Personal ^ | 6 Sep 16 | Xzins

Posted on 09/06/2016 6:21:10 AM PDT by xzins

The old saying "the proof is in the pudding" isn't a bad bit of wisdom. That's why the advice to go see for yourself has borne up over the years.

Such it was over the entire Labor Day weekend, as we drove through southern Ohio on a series of jaunts that took us through Fayette, Clinton, Highland, Adams, Clermont, Brown, and Hamilton counties along some of their major and minor highways.

What I saw over the weekend really struck me. First, I saw that the hesitation to put up signs in support of Trump has apparently become passé . I saw lots of Trump signs, and some places had multiple Trump signs.

In that entire time, I saw ONE Clinton sign and that was in a yuppie neighborhood in northeast Hamilton County. Even in Hamilton, though, the Trump signs were evident.

I do believe the shoe is now on the other foot and people truly are embarrassed to admit that they support the totally, obviously corrupt Hillary Clinton for the presidency. The common folk, though, are showing off their support for Trump.

Let me also note that I saw not a single Johnson, Stein, or McMullin(?) sign anyplace.

What does this all mean? Obviously, it's anecdotal, and it is not a scientific random sampling by any means, but we did put lots of miles on the truck, and we saw what we saw. To be honest with you, I really was struck by the absence of Clinton signs, because I distinctly recall the Obama signs from 4 and 8 years ago.

I don't think saying "it's early yet" really accounts for the absence, because the same argument would apply for the Trump signs. Besides, it isn't early. It's pretty late. The election is just about 60 days away.

So, take this in conjunction with polls showing the race close in Ohio, and Trump having a slight lead.

If true that Clinton is in a near tie with Trump in Ohio, this can only mean she has dispirited followers who are not inclined to let others know of their support for the most corrupt candidate ever to run for the presidency of the United States of America.

Never mind the yard signs. The Washington Post came out this morning with a 50 state poll that, they contend, puts the lid on Trumps campaign. Hillary is so far ahead the contest is over.

Well, I live in a bedroom community of “Hollywood,” and of course since the people here think they are better than people not in the “industry,” they must quite naturally be smarter than the rest of us, and THEY think it’s ok to plaster their cars with I’m With Hillary or Hillary for America.

Though, I think here what we have is a LOT of secret Trump supporters who just don’t want their cars and houses targeted. There is a lot of vermin roaming these streets here, nice houses to break into and steal packages from. There is way more crime here than ever before. The have nots are quite desperate for drug money etc and I think a lot of people are feeling fear. Every night there are some Protected Species seen on security cams (I’m on their neighborhood watch private Facebook group) up to no good. Lots of theft and robberies. It didn’t use to be this way here.

Fraud is always possible, but I’m betting that Trump has focused his attention on something like that behind the scenes.

I expect a trap for the fraudsters on that one.

Well, that’s likely because the not-so-tremendous Johnson isn’t a Libertarian, he’s a RINO who likes pot. . .

There's a HUGE difference between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama when it came to campaigning. Obama was everywhere when it campaigned and because of his relative youth (48 during the 2008 campaign and 52 in the 2012 campaign), he was treated like a rock star and got huge audiences at every rally. Hillary? She gets tiny audiences and her public appearances have been not very inspiring indeed (that speech she gave two weeks ago with that Art Bell conspiracy theory tone turned off way too many voters).

It makes sense. Those are old union areas that have been decimated by democrat policies of shipping American jobs all over the world.

Last election I remember seeing busloads of Somali voting for Obama, with reportedly democrats assisting the non-English speakers to vote correctly. Over 100% of registered voters in Cleveland and Columbus voting for Obama.

I agree. Northeast Ohio is a different story. But the polls in Ohio are bending toward Trump.

Honestly, I supposedly should have received Trump bumper stickers but haven’t. They are really slow getting this stuff out.

In AZ I have seen NO yard signs period, maybe a dozen Trump stickers, one Cankles sticker, and a couple of Bernie stickers.

But going to Vegas last week, in Wickenberg, there were two massive billboards on each side of town, “Hillary for PRISON.”

WaPo polls that stand in direct contradiction to other polls means we have to account for that discrepancy.

I think the Hillary for Prison and other corruption attacks on Clinton are absolutely on target.

I haven’t heard a single person defend her or support her. Along with the lack of yard signs, that is very telling to me.

Meanwhile Hillary’s dirt keeps coming 24/7 and she keeps coughing showing the country how unfit in every way she is.

About a week ago, I was driving through the downtown section of my town of about 15,000.

Many of the 2nd floors in the old buildings were being used for storage or dust collecting. Then, some industrious contractors began turned those upper floors into swank/fancy/expensive apartments.

As I drove a small sign in one upper window caught my eye: Vote Trump.

That was the ONLY politician sign I have seen so far.

In 2012, I saw may a half-dozen Romney signs and one Obama sign.

The job is too big for her. She doesn’t have near the integrity and, apparently, she doesn’t have near the health and stamina.

I think folks are beginning to get comfortable going public with their support for Trump.

I live in a lib part of my town.

Still only 5 Hillary signs. Two of which are at one house. Green party + Bernie holdouts are around 9. One for Gary Johnson.

Note: Sanders won my area handily in the primaries.

Surprisingly 2 Trump signs around here. Most of the rest 18 I’ve seen (more than a few handmade) are in the more blue collar + old Polish + redneck parts to the north.

The local Dem HQ is like a ghost town compared to 2008. They aren’t even prominently display Hillary signs in the window. More for local candidates.

I don’t believe the poll numbers as well.

This whole election is difficult to get a bead on.
Anecdotal signage is not a good indicator, nor is the slanted polling, and news coverage.

I hope Trump wins..but I have given up trying to predict anything. The most you can do is look at trajectories which is what I did in the primaries. Right now, Trump is on the upswing. How far that goes remains to be seen.

Well, you know I haven’t really had much doubt about this election, even in the “darker” low-poll days. I thought it would just be a matter of time.

We need to hope Cankles doesn’t completely croak before November 8 and have them try to put in Bite-me.

Kaine, giggling like a drugged out buffoon as she hacks for four minutes, makes me think he’s a retard.
