Are we running out of farmland? Is that why we need vertical farms? What is going on here?

I’ve always wanted to set up a vertical hanging bag system. Using sausage tubes of soil media in black plastic.

Nobody has mentioned the amount of chemicals needed to sustain such farming methods.

Probably just another taxpayer subsidized boondoggle. If LEED is involved it will probably cost a thousand dollars to produce a head of lettuce. I’m sure the “farms” will be cool though.
