This is my very first vanity after nearly twelve years on FR. I just want to ask other animal lovers to say a prayer for my cat. I am not normally one to ask for help, but I am stressed out.
She is sixteen and over the past week has been going through some bad stuff that came on rather suddenly. I won't go into the details but you might consider buying stock in paper towels and cleaning supplies. The doctors have eliminated everything and seem to think it is a bleeding stomach ulcer. She came home today but I can't get her to eat and she is obviously uncomfortable. There are medications I have to give her that I have researched and may help but haven't yet.
Thank God I have a family member helping me out; I am very blessed to have that. I am under deadline for work and low on sleep and hope. This cat found me and has insinuated herself into my very heart and is more faithful of a companion than some dogs. I couldn't believe how lost I was when she was in the hospital, and now I fear I'm facing that on a permanent basis. She's had a hard life medically and I have done everything for her that I possibly could. I want to chuck my work out the window and just lay on the floor with her.
I will try to check into the thread as often as I can but I have to keep checking in on her and try to get work done while watching her suffer. I just want to access the power of FR prayer.

My heart is with you. Have you consulted another vet? Don’t give up on her but please make sure she isn’t suffering. She may have swallowed something so has she had x-rays? She may have a blockage. I wish I was there to help you!
Bayport, I’m so sorry for your situation. I will stand in agreement with you and others that the Lord would give you a few more years with your cat.
I know how devoted they can be, and your cat sounds very loving. I ask our Father, in the Name of Jesus, to comfort you, keep your cat out of pain and miraculously find a cure for her ailment. And I also pray that your work gets handled so you can spend time with your precious cat.

You may have to water down the food and syringe feed to get her eating again. You might also try baby food. My cats always go for it when they're sick. I get the chicken, stage 1 or 2.( No onions) and heat it a little in the microwave to get it nice and smelly.
I hope the meds start working quickly.
Having been in the same boat as you, I know how terribly alone you feel right now, and scared. Just know that all of us are standing behind you, and that Father loves His animals. Prayers for kitty, and for you.

I wrote about losing my 16 yr old cat yesterday, and received lots of caring responses. The people are very considerate. May God help you in this time of your life and may God provide some comfort to you and your cat.

I have three cats and I squirt ASAP silver gel on their food everyday. It is just like thick water. Just a squirt. They seem to be doing ok. . .they are indoor and outdoor cats. . .whatever they feel like being. They catch little critters outside as in little voles, etc. I figure the silver gel would squelch any bacteria or whatever. I don’t know if it would help your cat but it is actually a harmless product. I use it for a lot of stuff.

Sorry ‘bout your tidder tat. We have had so many of the little guys over the years we are considered eccentric.
We learned a long time ago when the cats get sick, and the vets basically just take your money the best thing to do is cook up some long grain rice, let it cool, mix it in with some canned cat food such as friskies bits (any flavor kitty will eat. They won’t eat all the flavors). This usually sticks with them. They usually clear up from the runs, and often put back some weight over time. It’s something you’ll have to do until kitty is looking healthier, and you aren’t having to watch all the time.
Try a 1/2 cup of rice in the pot with 3/4 cup of water on low until the rice is done. About 20 minutes. Gotta watch it real close if cooking with gas. If it works for you as it has for us then you might want to make more each time you cook the rice up. Just depends. We are currently feeding three the rice mixture as they are all elderly, and have some digestion difficulties, runs, or some other disgusting malady, but we do love them so we do it.
I’m sorry you lost your cat. But it is not goodbye, but so long.
