Dallas Police Chief David Brown held a wide-ranging press conference on Monday, where he touched on race, the investigation and the issue of guns.
In a dramatic moment, he urged legislators to do their jobs and propose new laws to combat gun violence.
"We're doing ours. We're putting our lives on the line," Brown said. "The other aspects of government need to step up and help us."
With that, here are five pieces of audio from that press conference you should listen to....

What’s that place called where only the police have guns....?
Chief Brown just lost me...
If they did their job, what would he have them do?
I guess he needs the big funny glasses for wide range of view as a cop.
Open Carry would be better for the cops I think in that situation.
Ban everything, Chief.

BAN TERRORISTS -— NOT GUNS!!~ Weakness draws ATTACKS!! Get tough or get dead!! All this weakness is the fault. I’m sick of this community dialogue crap!! DO YOUR DAMNED JOB!!
Dallas is swimming with dipsh*t liberals
Don’t ask the police to go collect firearms from the formerly law-abiding.
I thought Texas adopted open carry. If they did I’m surprised I haven’t seen one person carrying a gun.
Prison
The arm of flesh will fail. They set up the bomb for that jihadist... and then they set up the bomb for the militia.
There is one in the picture on post seven, a shotgun slung at the low ready, black panther type with his face covered.
I got issue with this. How many officers could shoot before they reacted? Moreover, what if there were twenty guns just like him stalking front of the police, and on cue, they just opened fire?
Now, if the police are not allowed to point weapons at them to beat them to the punch, maybe we needed armed citizens to glass the crowd. Let them know if they open fire on the police, it will be met with a hail of bullets from armed citizens.
Personally, I think political correctness has forced us to this point. The police should have to ask for citizens to do what they should be doing themselves, even if it is intimidating.
Did NPR invent the part about “to combat gun violence” — if so, shame on them.
It’s not public yet but I think this Brandon Beshires may be the shooter in the courthouse
No one but punks open carry. Hanging your weapon out is more about making a statement than making sense.
Who wants to be the first one targeted by a bad guy, because you’re the idiot with your weapon hanging out for them to see, and then target you as the one to be taken out first.
Not all open carry is cowboy showy. I saw a narsty biker (actually he was dressed quite decently) do this in Nashville and if it weren’t for that I could see the small pistol right opposite my driver’s window, I doubt I would have noticed.
