A Trump source, who described the meeting as a mending of fences, said the former rivals agreed to a rhetorical cease-fire and promised to work together on issues they agree. One such area is the courts: Trump asked Cruz to assist in cultivating a longer list of conservative judicial appointees, and once more, the Texas senator obliged him.
Today Donald Trump met with Cruz privately, and it seemed their buried the hatchet, or so it seems. Cruz accepted a speaking role at the GOP convention in a couple of weeks. I guess my thoughts run to WHEN will he be speaking? Will he be introduced as a VP pick?
From ABC News:
Donald Trump met with Sen. Ted Cruz on Capitol Hill on Thursday morning the first meeting between the two former bitter campaign rivals since Cruz suspended his presidential campaign. This WAS my dream ticket from day one but things have changed the last few months and it's only natural. I would have loved for Donald Trump to just hand it to the liberal media non-stop for his first term or two allowing Cruz to work behind the scenes and getting conservative policies passed. I felt he would have been a great Constitutional advisor to Trump, and could actually coach him.Cruz described the meeting as positive and productive and said he accepted Trumps invitation to speak at the convention.
I said Id be very glad to do so, Cruz told reporters that afternoon.
Cruz, who has withheld throwing his support behind Trump since dropping out of the race, said a possible endorsement was not discussed.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus was also at the meeting, as were Trumps campaign chairman, Paul Manafort; daughter Ivanka Trump; and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, according to senior sources in the Trump campaign.
The sources said that Donald Trump and Cruz decided to come together to work on several policy issues they agree on, specifically judicial nominations.
This was Trumps second trip to Capitol Hill in two months.
After Trump 1st or 2nd terms, Cruz would take the reigns with a functioning, successful governor; it would be many years of economic growth. Our largest problems in this country are the ill-informed electorate and the liberal media. If you are constantly going on the attack with the media and calling them out on their biased reporting, the light will be shining on them, which in turn will inform the sheeple.
I don't know about that now. I've watched Cruz "followers" burn more bridges than him in the way of unfriending Trump supporters, blocking them and starting rumor clubs because they didn't get their way. I don't know about this. Cruz stands to lose more than Trump if he accepts a VP role.
What are your thoughts?

I, not in
Hopefully Hillary never sees it coming and it stabs Obie too, who has slobbered all over her this past week in her CRIMINAL activity.
Go o Ted Go Trump!
I do.
The endorsement should appear earned and volunteered, not purchased. Both men have managed to give that impression.
Cruz will do the honorable thing, for the party and the country. He is an honorable man, regardless of what many FReepers might think of him.
Trump's natural enemies are not Cruz and the conservative wing. We share the same enemy: The GOP establishment and the Congressional leadership.
Never know when someone will bail yer ass out so dont burn bridges
If we are to believe Mr Trump we have a Common enemy.
Time for a Tiger Team
Good news??? Depends on what Cruz plans to say. Someone better be off state with a large hook.
ooops, off stage.
My thoughts are immaterial.
Cruz still fails to meet the eligibility standards of Article II.
No Pres. or VP can be other than an NBC. Cubanadians aren’t eligible.
Beyond that Cruz is a major Globalist. NO THANKS.
Keep your friends close but your enemies closer? My guess is Trump figures on the one hand, if Cruz endorses him, great. If, on the other hand, Cruz publicly dishonors himself at the convention, then he will do nothing more than publicly destroy his career on live T.V. If Cruz is the dishonorable RAT that I believe he is, nothing will stop him from his scheming behind the scenes. Better to get him to overplay his hand and publicly destroy his credibility for good, rather than continue his scheming in the background. Just my take.
Perhaps that's because I haven't talked to Donald yet this morning...
Everyone talks about how smart Cruz is. If that’s true, then he has to realize that any attempt to derail Trump at this point will be political suicide. And if Trump is derailed, Hillary will be president. Cruz would have had zero chance at beating her even if he had won the nomination honestly. By shafting Trump, his chances would be much less than zero because that stain would last forever.
I certainly hope that Cruz has now finally connected with the reality of the situation, and will visibly show support for Trump, even though that support might be insincere.
Cruz has a choice to make. Let us hope he makes the right one. He can put his overarching ambition on the back burner for a few years, or he can flame out now and go back to slip’n’fall lawyering.
Shows that Trump has some class - now if Cruz will actually endorse him I might consider donating to his re-bid for Senator.
so that Glenn can saunter around the stage for an hour wearing his muffin-top jeans,
while he lectures America about the theocracy he wants Ted to impose on us and our children.
If Cruz does not support Trump, then whom does he support?
Please help me find a different answer than Hitlery.
Please explain how you know he does not support Trump, are you psychic? And don’t give me some half assed answer about how he has not endorsed, this guilt by inference is retarded.
Here is some information I'm sure many folks might have missed about Ted Cruz. Needless to say, if Cruz had become the nominee the other side would have made sure this got noticed real well!

One of the comments under the article:
One has to be paid to support such a low-life who showed exactly what he is since this all started last year. Born in Canada of a Cuban father and immigrant to Canada, with sealed documents just like our current usurper, should never be in any position within our government. Get him out of here. Period.
In 1997, Michael Wayne Haley was arrested after stealing a calculator from Walmart. This was a crime that merited a maximum two-year prison term. But prosecutors incorrectly applied a habitual offender law. Neither the judge nor the defense lawyer caught the error and Haley was sentenced to 16 years.
Eventually, the mistake came to light and Haley tried to fix it. Ted Cruz was solicitor general of Texas at the time. Instead of just letting Haley go for time served, Cruz took the case to the Supreme Court to keep Haley in prison for the full 16 years.
The case reveals something interesting about Cruzs character. In his career and public presentation Cruz is a stranger to most of what would generally be considered the Christian virtues: humility, mercy, compassion and grace. Cruzs behavior in the Haley case is almost the dictionary definition of pharisaism: an overzealous application of the letter of the law in a way that violates the spirit of the law, as well as fairness and mercy.
Hope Trump leaves him OUT of any position in his cabinet. Nevercruz!
I suppose you lump all the supreme court justices in your screed too.
I think you guys are all missing the point. Haven’t you heard of playing hard to get? It works like a charm!
