A Trump source, who described the meeting as a mending of fences, said the former rivals agreed to a rhetorical cease-fire and promised to work together on issues they agree. One such area is the courts: Trump asked Cruz to assist in cultivating a longer list of conservative judicial appointees, and once more, the Texas senator obliged him.
Today Donald Trump met with Cruz privately, and it seemed their buried the hatchet, or so it seems. Cruz accepted a speaking role at the GOP convention in a couple of weeks. I guess my thoughts run to WHEN will he be speaking? Will he be introduced as a VP pick?
From ABC News:
Donald Trump met with Sen. Ted Cruz on Capitol Hill on Thursday morning the first meeting between the two former bitter campaign rivals since Cruz suspended his presidential campaign. This WAS my dream ticket from day one but things have changed the last few months and it's only natural. I would have loved for Donald Trump to just hand it to the liberal media non-stop for his first term or two allowing Cruz to work behind the scenes and getting conservative policies passed. I felt he would have been a great Constitutional advisor to Trump, and could actually coach him.Cruz described the meeting as positive and productive and said he accepted Trumps invitation to speak at the convention.
I said Id be very glad to do so, Cruz told reporters that afternoon.
Cruz, who has withheld throwing his support behind Trump since dropping out of the race, said a possible endorsement was not discussed.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus was also at the meeting, as were Trumps campaign chairman, Paul Manafort; daughter Ivanka Trump; and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, according to senior sources in the Trump campaign.
The sources said that Donald Trump and Cruz decided to come together to work on several policy issues they agree on, specifically judicial nominations.
This was Trumps second trip to Capitol Hill in two months.
After Trump 1st or 2nd terms, Cruz would take the reigns with a functioning, successful governor; it would be many years of economic growth. Our largest problems in this country are the ill-informed electorate and the liberal media. If you are constantly going on the attack with the media and calling them out on their biased reporting, the light will be shining on them, which in turn will inform the sheeple.
I don't know about that now. I've watched Cruz "followers" burn more bridges than him in the way of unfriending Trump supporters, blocking them and starting rumor clubs because they didn't get their way. I don't know about this. Cruz stands to lose more than Trump if he accepts a VP role.
What are your thoughts?

Cruz has been working for months to undermine Trump and steal his nomination away from him...Hopefully that got settled at their private meeting...But it needs to become public before I'll support Cruz for anything...The guy's a real sleeze...I don't trust him at all...
Cruz has the Conservative chops that we need right now. His input on domestic policy, especially from a Constitutional perspective, could be invaluable.
I wish everyone would stop the attacks on Cruz and try to remember Reagan’s 11th Commandment. You never see Dems attacking each other like this. They’re circling the wagons around Hillary, fer cripes sake!
Not necessarily...If Cruz can run for U.S. prez you can certainly vote for Trump...
“Cruz has the Conservative chops that we need right now.”
He is a globalist slut.
When it comes time for him to speak, I’ll turn it off.....
Take a look at my recent post. Cruz has the best voting record in Congress. In the Senate he has absolutely nothing to prove. He and Mike Lee are the best of the best in Congress.
YES, I am still waiting to hear of the concessions from the seditionist suffering the Butt Hurt. Does he call the jackals off? Does he behave himself and meaningfully endorse the nominee?
TRUMP didn’t give Cruz a convention spot for free. If he did, I would be shocked and have to say he isn’t the man I thought he was.
No, TRUMP made a deal. What is it, and when do we hear about it?
Cruz may not like Trump, but he knows he lost and Trump won. By this point, even Ted Cruz realizes he won't be the nominee and wouldn't be elected if he was.
Cruz was just on FOX live.
He said there was no talk of an endorsement in his meeting TRUMP.
He said TRUMP invited him to speak at the convention, and that he had said he would be glad to.
I don’t like it.
Wayne, we all, indirectly, have heard that from Glenn Beck and others. Still, this is probably good news in that many of the Cruzers still need permission to support The Donald, and this will help.
Then again, it all depends on what St. Ted says, right?
I feel the exact same way.
Hi, 144!
If TRUMP wants to kill ratings he’s so proud of garnering, just wait until the hour that Cruz speaks (or should I say, Shakespeare “orates”)during the televised convention.
I would be dry heaving to hear Cruz’ voice.
Here come the Cruz haters 3..2..1..
Yep, I’m right there with you...I want to know what is what and when and how...
I know Trump would never do anything that would hurt America or her people or his chances to get to the Oval Office...that I am certain of...
It’s not Trump I am worried about, it’s about the ‘snake in the grass’ that has proven to be a total jackass...
But I only work on the Trump Campaign and don’t get to say what goes on, I do my work, and go to sleep knowing I’m doing my part to get Trump in the Oval Office and America back on her feet...
GO.TRUMP.GO!!! ALL THE WAY TO THE OVAL OFFICE!!!
Ben Carson did himself.
WHICH domestic policy?????
The domestic policy where Cruz recommended to the Gang of 8 to quintuple the Gang’s number of temporary foreign workers rotating into the US, from 65,000 to his number of 350,000?
Maybe you like the Cruz domestic policy that is affected by TPP, which he voted to bring to the floor? Great effect domestically on the US, that one.
Or, maybe you liked Cruz’ domestic policy recommendation for a “pathway to legalization” to “bring them out of the shadows”, which rewards these illegals producing this INVASION we are experiencing.
Yes, let Cruz wave that Constitution at you and you sell out your country for the thrill of it all. BS!
Well it seems Donald Trump doesn’t care what you think and is having Criz speak.
Personally, I don’t care of Cruz speaks or not. I am not going to watch it. I will follow it here on FR where there will be many great threads.
I already know what I am doing in November which is voting for the GOP nominee whom I believe will be Trump.
See #69 up thread.
I am waiting for TRUMP’s view on that one.
Very, VERY well said. I agree with you.
