A Trump source, who described the meeting as a mending of fences, said the former rivals agreed to a rhetorical cease-fire and promised to work together on issues they agree. One such area is the courts: Trump asked Cruz to assist in cultivating a longer list of conservative judicial appointees, and once more, the Texas senator obliged him.
Today Donald Trump met with Cruz privately, and it seemed their buried the hatchet, or so it seems. Cruz accepted a speaking role at the GOP convention in a couple of weeks. I guess my thoughts run to WHEN will he be speaking? Will he be introduced as a VP pick?
From ABC News:
Donald Trump met with Sen. Ted Cruz on Capitol Hill on Thursday morning the first meeting between the two former bitter campaign rivals since Cruz suspended his presidential campaign. This WAS my dream ticket from day one but things have changed the last few months and it's only natural. I would have loved for Donald Trump to just hand it to the liberal media non-stop for his first term or two allowing Cruz to work behind the scenes and getting conservative policies passed. I felt he would have been a great Constitutional advisor to Trump, and could actually coach him.Cruz described the meeting as positive and productive and said he accepted Trumps invitation to speak at the convention.
I said Id be very glad to do so, Cruz told reporters that afternoon.
Cruz, who has withheld throwing his support behind Trump since dropping out of the race, said a possible endorsement was not discussed.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus was also at the meeting, as were Trumps campaign chairman, Paul Manafort; daughter Ivanka Trump; and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, according to senior sources in the Trump campaign.
The sources said that Donald Trump and Cruz decided to come together to work on several policy issues they agree on, specifically judicial nominations.
This was Trumps second trip to Capitol Hill in two months.
After Trump 1st or 2nd terms, Cruz would take the reigns with a functioning, successful governor; it would be many years of economic growth. Our largest problems in this country are the ill-informed electorate and the liberal media. If you are constantly going on the attack with the media and calling them out on their biased reporting, the light will be shining on them, which in turn will inform the sheeple.
I don't know about that now. I've watched Cruz "followers" burn more bridges than him in the way of unfriending Trump supporters, blocking them and starting rumor clubs because they didn't get their way. I don't know about this. Cruz stands to lose more than Trump if he accepts a VP role.
What are your thoughts?

I think this is very good news.
I was told I wasn’t a Christian and conservative when I had questions to ask about Goldman Sachs or when other things came up I had questions about.
So-called friends unfriended me and blocked me on social media because I sided with Trump. I really don’t want Cruz to speak at the convention or become VP if Trump is leaning that way.
That’s how I feel.
Awful!
Cruz still hasn’t endorsed him. High risk/potentially high reward move by Trump. If Cruz is smart, he’ll play ball.
I think he won’t endorse Trump until rules committee coup is squelched. He is still hoping to come and save the day.
Cruz talks a good game and energy is what is needed there.
mending fences good.
I take it this means Cruz is, after all, supporting the nominee. (if not, Trump just made a deal contrary to his book, a deal he may very well come to regret)
Cruz in the Senate can help DT overturn some of the awful anti-American trash that’s been coming down on us these past 7.5 years
No one cares what you think.
I think it’s very bad news. Cruz lies as much as Hellary. Neither should be allowed within 100 miles of the WH.
I think it’s overall good news.
I don’t care to hear his voice ever again, but this is the right thing to do. Obviously many people liked him better than I did and it will be helpful to bring some unity to the party.
But if I were Trump, I’d be personally sitting with my hand on Ted’s mic cord and if he started any crap, I’d yank it in a millisecond.
Cruz as a Constitutional advisor/mentor to Trump is a good idea. Anything other than that is a bad idea since Cruz lacks ethics and character.
I don’t know what to make of it. I don’t want Cruz to get the VP nod. He has to start over proving himself in the US Senate.
Trump is the nominee apparent. Hillary Clinton has to be defeated at all cost. That’s the 25 meter target. That’s all that matters for now, Cruz or no Cruz.
If Trump embraces Cruz, I think the Matter and Anti-Matter of Freepdom will cause the end of Time.
I hope Trump is fully aware of what Cruz is going to say. And I hope Cruz doesn’t pull a fast one on Trump.
I started out thinking Cruz was the guy, but the more I listened to him, to more my “creep radar” went off. What he did to Ben Carson sealed it for me.
Having said that, I guess, being Canadian, it makes little difference what I think lol.
