A police dog died after an officer-involved shooting in Long Beach Tuesday morning, officials said.

Long Beach police officers were in the 2800 block of East 15th Street about 9 a.m. investigating a man wanted in connection with an assault with a deadly weapon case.

Police surrounded an apartment complex in the area and a shooting occurred, police spokeswoman Sgt. Cynthia Arrona said.

Thank you for protecting us, Credo. You are a hero dog. It hurts a lot to see strong men such as these grieving. We will see you again on the other side.

Nothing in the story to suggest that the suspect shot the dog. “It is unclear how the dog was injured during the incident.” Sounds a lot like a cop pulled the trigger.

If you look at the still photo it appears the K9 dog suffered a fatal blow, shot, or stabbing to the neck or throat. LEOs would not have been in a position to shoot as you follow the dog, not be in front of him.

That’s the question, not if the suspect did it or not.

The handler should have been behind the dog, but unless you have a diagram for the position of the other officers, I’m going to remain open to the possibility of police cross fire until they can put together a credible story.

Are you familiar with this area of Long Beach?

The streets are narrow and not much spacing between the houses. No way police (especially SWAT) would pursue an armed suspect from different angles or in a crossfire.

Doesn’t make a difference anyway. Not only is the suspect dead but under CA laws, injuries or deaths caused during a pursuit or evasion is considered the fault of the suspect.

” Sounds a lot like a cop pulled the trigger.”

Might have gone down something like this:

Some people are just fuzzy on the concept of “designated shooter.”

In that video, the person responsible for the death of the dog is the dead black thug.
