Paul Davey, the father of 20-year-old Michael Sandford, helped pay for him to go to the United States to "get his life sorted out"

The father of a Brit accused of trying to kill Donald Trump said today his son had never shown an interest in politics and believes he may have been "put up to it or blackmailed".

Paul Davey, the father of 20-year-old Michael Sandford, said his family are "absolutely devastated" by reports he has been charged with attempting to assassinate the Republican presidential nominee.

Sandford is charged with 'an act of violence on restricted grounds ' after allegedly attempting to grab a gun from a police officer's holster and shoot Mr Trump at a rally in Las Vegas on Saturday.

He faces up to 10 years in prison.

Mr Davey, 50, says his son has Asperger's Syndrome and he has no idea why he would attempt to shoot the billionaire....

How did he get the money for a Beemer?

No real mention of his immigration status either.

If his visa ran out after a year, could you assume it's a normal visitor visa that doesn't allow employment?

I’ve got it and I don’t shoot people.

But Aspies tend to get all worked up, especially when engaged in an echo chamber. He may have thought assassinating Trump would make him a hero in his echo chamber. He would not see it as necessarily wrong because the ends justifies the means.

Most of the mass shootings involve a perp who destroyed his hard drive. That was probably to hide the location of the echo chamber.

Just give him the electric chair and we can call it all a wash, okay?

Zooming straight into conspiracy when the obvious provides an adequate explanation doesn’t do anyone any favors.

Sorry for the paraphrase: show me the crime and I will show you the psychological syndrome that makes it OK to do it, if you are a lib.

Good police work is NOT a conspiracy.

Or do you want the FBI just to stop their orlando investigation because they know who the shooter is.

ALL murders and attempted murders should be investigated.

Read the British papers. He had an weapons arsenal, a car in which he drove across the country to - get this - San Bernardino - and then into Las Vegas. He slept in his car, was totally unemployed, overstayed his visa for 18 months and took target practice before the rally. He was also scheduled to attend another rally. That he was staying in NJ - in a city that has a high population of radical muslims (the ones who cheered on 9/11), something stinks to high heaven. They are also reporting he had an American girlfriend. I wonder what happened to her.

The only thing NOT being reported in the papers is that Daddy sent him to America so he could straighten his life out - on our dime and our dead bodies, apparently.

Thank God for the police.

My first reaction is insanity.
But we do not know the details. He may have been investigating some education program or employment with a trusted institutin when he first came over At least the parents knew he was in crisis which indicates they were in contact with him He obviously was rejecting their influence which indicates to me he was under the influence of another.

If and when evidence warrants talk of conspiracy regarding this English 20 year old, then I might engage. Until then, I’m satisfied with the explanation that he is an emotionally troubled young man, prone to making grand gestures in an attempt at winning the love of some chick in Hoboken that he’d met online, but not very good at planning anything out in advance, thank goodness.

What planet are you on? Read the British papers - read my post above; everything I wrote I got from the Mail and The Guardian including photos of his stash of weapons. Investigating an education program??? Fat chance!

All those could be obtained after his arrival. Even after he started overstaying his Visa. We were discussing why a parent would allow their child with problems to travel by himself alone to the other side of the world.
We are not given that information.
Nor are we given any details of what he did after arriving. How he paid the bills

Did he have a trust fund?

He had an weapons arsenal

Where? If it was in this country, it would have had to be in the trunk of his car, since he was reportedly living in it. Yet he shows up unarmed at the rally.

I thought that Aspergers is no longer a diagnosis outright and everything similar is lumped into Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Why do you care about the bad parenting of this guy? Did you care about poor Mateen who was also the result of bad parenting??

We are in a life and death struggle with immigration. Who cares about his Aspergers or his lousy, nasty parents?
