I work with a young woman who is part-Chinese. She went over to visit relatives and came back regaling us with the wonderfulness of the vending machine fast food places there.

Your post is right, up to a point. Eventually, the failures of the leftists are attributed to their enemies machinations. At that point their solution is always to eliminate their enemies. Make no mistake, if and when the leftists are able to disarm the American public they will eventually get around to eliminating their defensless enemies.

Well, at least you can’t blame someone else if your order isn’t right. Think the thing I liked best was that there was not a sign anywhere that had calorie or fat count. Don’t let Mouchelle Obama know though because she’ll probably come down and put them up herself.

One of my concerns is what happens when the credit card systems go down during a power outage? That happened last Saturday and all the stores, including gas stations, along one of our major streets had signs everywhere saying “Cash Only”. Even the bank’s ATM didn’t work. We had a very bad wind and rain storm over the weekend and the businesses were down for most of Saturday and all of Sunday. Bet it was a mess at Wally World because they couldn’t take the food stamp cards.

I will gladly deal with a robot over the worthless work ethic of so many young workers at fast food places.

My cursory experience with McD's drive-thru's ( several times a month, I guess ) gives me a very postive impression of the workers, and the system under which they operate. For example, I've noticed that the cashiers do double duty taking orders, and that's a feat right there. 'Course, these tend to be the old guys! Overall, though, very polite, efficient, and accommodating. Very possibly, they consider themselves underpaid and resent their situation, but they are sure doing their job.

BTW, just this past week, I had a morning commitment and took the risk of nipping thru a McD's on the way to get a coffee and Bacon-Egg-and-Cheese-Biscuit. There was a line, but I swear I never stopped rolling! I was afraid I was holding things up by fumbling for change! I went right around and right back on the road ... no more delay than a long traffic light. I swear.

People often overlook the positive changes brought about by unions a long time ago; they were absolutely necessary at a time of horrible abuses of labor, and many of the reforms demanded became codified as law. The problem is since then they’ve won unsustainable gains for a dwindling number of workers; they’ve reduced the number of union jobs as a result.

My biggest issue is with the public employee unions, bleeding the taxpayers and passing along some of those ill-gotten gains to buy politicians to increase the bloodflow into the public employees’ pockets...

In my area “fast food” has become anything but; few American workers (including managers) and everything moves very slowly. It is better along highways, but in the ‘hood it moves at the pace of the ‘hood...

It was pointed out by some CNBC talking head that Costco reduces overall labor costs by paying more, because of turnover reduction (training is a dead loss). That will *not* work at the fast food chains, because they've taken the other approach -- simplifying the jobs to make the training period as close to zero as possible. Thanks 2ndDivisionVet.
