Venezuela's army is to be backed by civilians grouped into ancillary security units, to tackle food shortages and public unrest, under a state of emergency decree published on Monday.

The decree, published in the government gazette, brings into effect for at least 60 days sweeping powers President Nicolas Maduro announced on Friday.

The measures give his government and security forces broad authorization to ignore most constitutional safeguards in a bid to keep order and supply basic food and services, and to counter a crippling energy shortage....

Quite true.

But then, that’s what minions are for... To die attempting to enforce their master’s edicts.

Not as much as they used to be. We’re on our way to energy independence as far as importing oil.

Troops have to be fed and militarizing the broader populace is just shorthand for “over here, if you want to eat”.

Which was why we knew the implosion would happen very soon. There was an article about Vz troops having so little to eat that they were resorting to stealing on their own.

"Read where the Deal Leader of that country is going to jail the beer brewers because of no beer.

As well they should be: They are in direct violation of §5, Directive 10-289:

" Every establishment, concern, corporation or person engaged in production of any nature whatsoever shall henceforth produce the same amount of goods per year as it, they or he produced during the Basic Year, no more and no less. The year to be known as the Basic or Yardstick Year is to be the year ending on the date of this directive. Over or under production shall be fined, such fines to be determined by the Unification Board.

Oddly enough you are correct. Venezuela does not have the refining capacity for their “heavy crude oil” and thus must import the refined product for gasoline and diesel

I lived in Venezuela for two years prior to Chavez. It was a corrupt nation an thus elected Chavez. What they elected was many times worse. They didn't electr Chaves nor Maduro in the subsequent election as those elections were stolen by fraud.

I miss the Venezuela of old. It was corrupt but no one was hungry. They are hungry today.

No barley due to failed govt policies, so we will jail the brewers for not brewing for lack of barley due to incompetent govt policies.

Makes perfect sense if you are dictator

"...the IMF/World Bank goals of an enslaved planetary populace..."

Agreed. The 1st step though to an enslaved world is to enslave America, as we are the only demographic on the planet that has what it takes to fight this threat.
