Venezuela's army is to be backed by civilians grouped into ancillary security units, to tackle food shortages and public unrest, under a state of emergency decree published on Monday.
The decree, published in the government gazette, brings into effect for at least 60 days sweeping powers President Nicolas Maduro announced on Friday.
The measures give his government and security forces broad authorization to ignore most constitutional safeguards in a bid to keep order and supply basic food and services, and to counter a crippling energy shortage....

Amazing how so many people can’t grasp that stuff has to be PRODUCED by people, it doesn’t just happen, it isn’t manna appearing on the ground every morning, it doesn’t grow on trees (and even that which does needs tending & harvesting effort), it isn’t a natural resource which can be dug/pumped out of the ground (and even that which is requires acquisition & processing effort).
Before the country completely collapses, can someone please interview the leaders and ask “where the he11 do you think gasoline and toilet paper and cheeseburgers come from if a seriously insufficient number of people are motivated to produce them?” Heck, would someone please do the same with Hillary & Bernie? Maybe Trump will...
So when Maduro ultimately flees for his life to Cuba, I’m sure that he will bring whatever transportable booty he can muster with him, such as gold bars, relics, fine art, and whatnot.
I have to say that these sociopathic “champions of the people” are admirably adept at fooling the sheeple (and I’m not excluding this country). Look at Dilma Roussef of Brazil. Look at the Wookie.

We import about 10 % of our crude from Venezuela ....that would classify them as a minor supplier...
Filing up our gas tanks would imply they will not be producing crude to cause a spike in prices, which is the last thing they will do since it’s a major source of cash....
Bodies will line the streets from starvation and oil production would continue....
If history is any guide, this should leave a respectable number of dead bodies behind.
Send Kevin Spacey, Danny Glover, Sean Penn et al. over to their “paradise” for the rescue.
