Freedom's Lighthouse ^ | April 25, 2016 | Brian

Posted on 04/25/2016 2:30:18 PM PDT by Federalist Patriot

Rush Limbaugh today on his radio show looks ahead to what happens if Ted Cruz actually succeeds with his plan to wrestle the nomination away from Donald Trump on the 2nd or 3rd ballot of a contested Republican Convention. Rush said it will be like a “nuclear explosion” going off, and that “it will be the end of the Republican Party.” . . . .

The GOP has been dead since the day Trump announced. The best candidates, such as Walker, couldn’t get any traction with Trump getting all the media attention. All that’s left is Trump, whose positions and loyalties are never certain, and Cruz, whose election will make the 2000 court battles look like a walk in the park, with no supreme court to settle the matter. Oh yeah, and there’s Kasich.

The establishment is moribund, and the pro and anti-Trump factions are probably irreconcilable.

I’d say keep your powder drive, but it’s likely that Hillary will be sending law enforcement personnel to take our weapons.

This used to be a hell of a country. If you know the mourner’s Kadesh, it’ll soon be time to say it over the tomb of the late, great, United States of America.

Direct quote:
Limbaugh told his radio audience, “If conservatism is your bag, if conservatism is the dominating factor in how you vote, there is no other choice for you in this campaign than Ted Cruz….”

Ok...thats telling his audience, Ted Cruz is a conservative...not an endorsement...

Trump at best can be described as quasi-conservative...that's being generous...

Trump basically just put his conservative training wheels on six months ago...

Lets see how far he can pedal without falling over...

I’m hoping Trump gets the nomination, impales the GOP, and finishes them off.

We have time to build something better. Any traditional GOP candidate will lose handily for the next half century or more.

Time to retool.

In the meanwhile, I support a Trump presidency.

Straight from the horse's mouth. Even Rush admits it...

Ted Cruz plans on limping into the GOP convention with, at best, about 700 delegates or so.

And then what's he going to do somehow, magically? He's going to seize the nomination from Donald Trump, displacing the party's clear frontrunner.

Then what? This is the most ridiculous part: after swiping the nomination, he will:

Vote Trump

“Destruction of the GOPe is not a bad thing, the leadership of the Republican Party are all corrupt.”

When you set off a fire in the house, you cannot just say that you are picking the living room to be on fire and spare the bedrooms where “we” actually sleep.

If Trump is elected, I would not be surprised to see many non professional politicians running for office...Investigate them and vote accordingly...

Humm, we did that with the TEA PARTY, voted many good conservative candidates in...

Most were assimilated by the Borg in DC...

But my point really was, the concept of Trump destroying the GOPe is a fantasy...

He actually needs them to govern, he will cozy up to them...

I’m with you....I have only heard one thing that made me think Rush might be for Cruz....and that was the Michelle Fields lie that he repeated (about her being manhandled)...other than that I think he’s been pretty even handed...as much as I have listened.

Texas-Teddy Cruz and his GOPe Luzers sing goodbye to the conservatives he used,
exploited and lied to so he could get this far ...

"Makes no difference now what kind of life fate hands me
I'll get along without you now, that's plain to see
I don't care what happens next, 'cause I'll get by somehow
I don't worry 'cause it makes no difference now

It was just a year ago when I first met you
I learned to love you and I thought you'd love me, too
But that's all in the past and I'll get by somehow
I don't worry 'cause it makes no difference now

After all is said and done I'll soon forget you
Although I know that it will be so hard to do
Let things happen as they will and I'll get by somehow
I don't worry 'cause it makes no difference now!"

(Repeat final chorus)

Yawn. Jim Robinson himself reposted (as a new article) a detailed, well-researched essay which demonstrated conclusively that Donald Trump is not a newcomer to conservative causes. The piece cited several passages from Trump's own books and other statements, going back for at least the last 30 years, and showed beyond any shadow of a doubt that Trump's position on things like immigration, trade, the national debt, taxes, etc. are not anything new.

Which raises the question of why people would keep trying to bring up this tired old canard, unless they're simply uninformed.

Maybe someone can dig up the link for you. But suffice it to say that it effectively rebuts the notion that Trump is a new convert to conservatism.

Vote Trump

When the house burns to the ground the foundation remains, upon that foundation will we build a new house. The Whigs lost to the upstart Republican party. If the GOPe goes away we still have the GOP.

Anything other than letting the people decide the candidate is signing the death warrant for the GOP.
++++
The GOP candidate chosen by a popular vote of Republicans lost the popular vote in the General Election in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2008 and 2012. The “people” have not had a good run.

Hillary doesn’t just win.
There will be a ballot down wipe out of GOP candidates.

The good, bad and ugly will be slaughtered.

I think it’s pretty obvious Rush prefers Cruz to Trump.

However, he is not a #nevertrump and he gives Trump props from time to time.

I’m pretty sure Rush likes Trump personally but not so much politically.

Some of Rush’s comments on Cruz lead me to believe he has a fanboy crush at times.

And a lot of times when I listen (have to work so don’t listen that much) Cruz fanatics are ragging on him for not being hard enough on Trump.

Rush is trying to be a commentator and not an advocate like Levin and Stabby the Clown.

Kiss the 2nd Amendment goodbye.

What do you mean kiss it goodbye? I'm not laying down or surrendering my arms for anyone. To do so would be a disservice to all the men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for over 240 years.

And to all you FReepers talking about leaving the country or moving if Hillary is elected? Shame on you. I'm staying right here in the good old U.S of A.

I WAS BORN HERE, AND I WILL DIE HERE!!!

The only reason the GOP would allow Cruz to get the nomination would be so they could say “see we told you a conservative can’t win” because they know, as well a we know, that Ted could not win the general.

It that what you want Ted?

Is that what you want Ted supporters?
