Is Bernie Sanders about to withdraw from the race?
Blasting News ^ | April 20, 2016 | Mark R. Whittington

Posted on 04/20/2016 4:17:12 AM PDT by Marcus

When a presidential candidate, having been as beaten as thoroughly as Bernie Sanders was by Hillary Clinton in the New York Primary eschews campaigning to return to his home state, he is usually signaling that he is about to suspend his campaign and bow out of the race. Team Bernie is vehemently denying that their guy is about to throw in the towel. However, the delegate math suggests that Sanders has no chance of gaining the Democratic nomination. Hillary Clinton has all be clinched the prize.

“IF half (yeah, a lot) of Dinobernie’s supporters indeed move to Trump,”

What does it say about Trump that you think hardcore Marxists would support him?

Good analysis.

Except that the general election electorate is different than the primary. A lot more people vote. Not in the same proportions either.

And the idea that people who feel the Bern are a natural constituency for the GOP nominee is anathema to any non-enthralled conservative. Yeah, let’s elect the guy with the support of the young socialists!

I hope he stays in the race to the end. Comedians need the work.

Just talked to my favorite lefty Bern supporter.

Floated the idea of a Biden nomination.

She was thrilled.

I cannot begin to understand why.

Yep. The young people I work with are all in for Bernie. One mistakenly assumed that I was a Hillary supporter when I mentioned that I wasn’t impressed with Bernie (because no nice person could possibly not vote dem?!). He said that if you need to stop a leak in your toilet would you call the plumbers wife to fix it? They don’t like Hillary.

But, since Rebuplicans are evil haters who want to keep them broke, I’m sure they’ll vote for Hillary anyway.

Bernie got 752,739 votes to Trump’s 518,601 in NY state.

Trump supporters say that NY’s closed primary hurt him.

So do Bernie’s supporters.

I don’t know, really. What I know is that Cruz came in third with Zero delegates (at least by the voter method, anyway) We’ll see how the “harassment forays” for delegate wheedling go for Guerilla Ted.

Biden looks grown up (and moderate) compared to all the other candidates. This is mostly because he isn’t a candidate.

It’s funny. The only yard signs and bumper stickers I see are ones for Bernie. They are all over the place. Not a single one for Mrs. Clinton. I saw one brave soul post his Trump yard signs next to his neighbor who had Bernie signs out. Those are gone now.

If I put a Trump sign out, there might end up being a few caltrops scattered in close proximity to the sign and covered with straw... just a hunch.

Agree. Sanders should stay in, if/when Hillary is indicted (and if there’s any justice prosecuted and imprisoned for life, no parole) he could walk into the nomination. There’s tremendous potential for him and very little downside. After all, he’s campaigning with other people’s money. The socialist {expletive} certainly doesn’t care about wasting other people’s money.

Not at all. James Cormey says the FBI will finish it’s investigation by the end of May. Bernie might as well keep going and see what happens.

There are more Democrats than Republicans in NY. There are also 3 million independents.

Come on Bolshevik Bernie! Keep the pressure on the troll! Trump will have to take over a shift after you withdraw!

What does it say about Trump that you think hardcore Marxists would support him?

My guess is it would be those on the left who would prefer Bernie to Hillary, simply because they can't stand her for who she is. The full-on hard-core Marxists don't like Trump on principle.

He won’t withdraw, and I doubt that the Clinton campaign expects him to. I think what they’re hoping is that he stops the attacks and confines himself to trying to push her more to the left.

I think Hillary knows that if she does not make Bernie her running mate she will lose 33% OF Bernie’s supporters to Trump if she runs against Trump.

They aren’t all “young socialists.” A LOT of Bernie supporters are blue-collar Dems destroyed by free trade.

So, yeah, the general electorate is much different, but I think (and many Dem pundits have agreed) that Trump and only Trump represents a threat to capture these voters.

Again, the fact that in OH, coming in second, Trump beat Cankles by 35,000 votes is quite significant.

It says you are clueless about the electorate. All of Bernie’s supporters are not “hardcore Marxists.” There are a lot of white, blue-collar workers who have been screwed by the free trade system who are definitely not Marxists.

Dem pundits have been saying this for months. These voters are tailor made for Trump-—but no one else.

It’s clear by the fact that Trump beat Cankles by 35,000 votes here in OH . . . while coming in second! It’s a stretch to think half would come over, but you never know. On the other hand, likely half will NOT vote for Cankles, so that’s a plus.
