In a stunning reversal, Donald Trump said that he will strengthen the rights of the LGBT community and bring people together. His new stance comes just days after he said that as president, he would “strongly consider” overturning Obergefell vs Hodges, the Supreme Court decision that found that same-sex couples have a legal and constitutional right to marry.
“I’m a lesbian, we’ve had some great progress for the gay and lesbian community,” NECN reporter Sue O’Connell told Trump. When President Trump is in office, can we look for more forward motion on equality for gays and lesbians?” Here is Trump’s response:
“Well, you can. We’re going to bring people together, and that’s your thing, and other people have their thing. We have to bring all people together and if we don’t we’re not going to have a country anymore.”
Now that’s one big flip-flop because in addition to Trump saying he would appoint judges to overturn Obergefell vs Hodges, he has stated in the past time and time again that he only supports marriage between a man and a woman. He has said:
“I’m not in favor of gay marriage. I don’t feel right about marriage equality.”
Trump has even gone as far as to compare same-sex relationships to choosing the wrong kind of golf putter! He said:
“It’s like in golf. A lot of people — I don’t want this to sound trivial — but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive. It’s weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can’t sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist.”
In trying to rationalize the irrational, it’s most likely that Trump is pandering to New Hampshire voters for the primary, 67% of whom support gay marriage.
Your wall won’t matter when the people inside are worse than the ones outside.
Mark 10:5-9
" Jesus replied. 6 "But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female.' 7 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, 8 and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

Cruz evidently knows the difference between the body of Christ, His church, reflected in the relationship between Man/Husband and Woman/Wife; in contrast to the cultural bodies that pervert forgiveness of sin into permission to sin in the spirit of anti-Christ.
And Per Romans 1, God's law and natural selection trump the "law of the land", always.

Question: Are you still in favor of a wall?
Pay careful attention to what words he uses to answer this question.
Why is it your kneejerk response to reduce this to being a single-sourced topic???
Why treat me as some sort of simpleton?
We all take what people say -- & then we compare it to existing "grid"/filters of what we know on that person or subject.
Jimmy Carter's comments didn't arrive in a vacuum.
For example, Trump...
...exhibited his "malle-ability" when he said in 1999 that he was "pro-choice in every respect" & then said he was against abortion in 2011 & now says he's against aborting the pre-born -- except if the baby's dad was a rapist or incest perp, etc.
...and likewise exhibited the same type of thing by claiming to be a "liberal on healthcare" back in 2000 in vying for "universal healthcare"...but implied he was against its roll-out in 2011, 2015 by heavily criticizing Obama's version of it.
So this thread is YET another example by introducing another topic where Trump as been all over the board on...
Why was this addressed to me? The quote you attributed is not mine.
Why was your harangue addressed to me, an innocent bystander?
(Was just copying you since you were interested in expressing comments my way on the subject of “malleability”...that’s why your second ... the person listed first is who I cut & paste & directed my comments to)
That’s not all he said.
She asked a question and he answered and then followed up. You can’t ignore the “you can” to her specific question about increased forward momentum in equality.
The man has no problem arguing with or ignoring people he disagrees with. He could have done what he always does. Instead he flip-flopped again to play to a toally different crowd because he lacks values.
If you feel you did me a FR courtesy by copying me such a personal slam intended for someone else, your FR etiquette sucks!
That was just plain dumb and inflammatory!

Drive-By candidate Trump drives by again.

Kumbaya.
.
>> “Does he say something more specific?” <<
Yes he does.
He answered her detailed question in the undeniable affirmative.
Drive-BY candidate Trump has always been for “gay rights.”
.
Trump has said he is pro-gay so many times that there is really no question.
My point was that he was broadcast spreading the anti-PC bombast, then let up on a little thing like calling a woman a non-PC name because it wasn’t PC when he had done exactly that not long before (call a spade a spade and a bimbo a bimbo, or a moron a moron).
Why bother letting up now on telling the truth regardless of the PC or non-PC nature of the comment?
Political correctness is a disease, it rots entire cultures. Marx knew this, which is why he said that it would bring down the USA without a fight. You do know political correctness came from the mind of Marx right?
.
Its a Drive-By Trump pro gay double sleezeburger.
Sleaze is the essence of Drive-By Trump.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. I get sub’s point, but I just don’t agree with it. Same part of an existing threat to our culture and what is driving its’ rot. the social dogma of all these special interest / minority groups is that their deviant/bad behavior should not only be excused, but it should be honored and applauded simply because at some point someone was repressed somehow.
All of us were or have been repressed or treated poorly somewhere along the line, it’s just a matter of putting on your big boy/girl pants and getting the hell over it. Continuing to project all that negativity onto an entire race (whites) and playing the perpetual victim card just breeds resentment and repression of yet another entire race (whites).
Sorry, but that is not very specific. I'm not for gay anything, but I could easily have answered in the affirmative to such a vague question. We conservatives have always said that we don't pander to groups, and that we are for everybody benefiting from conservatism. For example, if I were president, they'd see "equality" because I would not give them any special treatment.
.
>> “What is he supposed to say?” <<
The fact that he didn’t simply answer “no” is solid evidence he really meant the yes emphatically.
As our Lord said, Light has no communion with darkness.
Drive-By Trump is Darkness.

Let your Yea be Yea, and your Nay be Nay.
If he is not in one corner of the other, he is doing the business of the adversary.
Drive-By Trump fails.

Would Cruz be right to send lying trolls like you to the gas chamber?
When did Cruz offer to send queers to the gas chamber?
Are you queer?
Exactly what I was thinking.
Many FReepers are going to have to face up to the fact that although many of us liked what Trump was saying in the beginning, not taking crap and all that; Trump he is a NE businessman. And he has those values, and they are not conservative values.
