Louder With Crowder ^ | February 2, 2016 | Steven Crowder

Everyone is spinning the Iowa results from last night. Marco Rubio had a surprisingly good night and Donald Trump had a surprisingly mediocre one, the big winner was Ted Cruz.

No, not just because he was the actual winner of Iowa. But because of just how different his victory is from candidates in the past. It's monumental.

Think about it for a second:

The candidate who openly talked about...

It’s easy to be the “Big Winner” when you lie and tell your opponent’s supporters that he dropped out so you can grab those votes.

Cheating is what good Christians do, isn’t it?

Yesterday was disappointing, but in the long run, not very meaningful, imo. I think things are going to look very different next Tuesday.

You forgot the time he built from scratch the appellate practice of a major DC law firm and ran it.... :) ;)

Jimmy Carter was a devout religious church-goer.

Ronald Reagan was not.

What was that point you were making?

so.... you are equating being a bureaucrat the same as being a politician?

Interesting. Guess all federal, state and local employees, judges, etc. are politicians then, just like an elected official.

Hope you realize that that is 22 million people, more than the total # of manufacturing jobs in US. http://cnsnews.com/news/article/terence-p-jeffrey/21955000-12329000-government-employees-outnumber-manufacturing

Is that your beef? That there are just too many people in non-private jobs?

“I’m glad you brought up the important morality spiritual aspect that appears to be missing from much of Trump’s life.”

Being ‘conservative’ cannot happen if one lacks ‘social conservatism’

I’m identifying a career politician. Cruz and Rubio both took jobs to set them up for a career in politics. They couldn’t start out in the Senate, had to do something else first.

I’m amazed how some think either of these guys are outsiders. If they were to be elected, it would be exactly what we have now, fiery anti-government rhetoric while they quite vote for establishment.

Well, I could agree that the propensity of both Rubio and Cruz to be in the political world is greater than Carson’s or Trump’s, and for that matter, Reagan.

Is that what is bothering you?

I do not like long-term elected officials as I do not think that our founders envisioned people like that as they believed in citizen statesmen instead. It should not be a career.

It bothers me that Cruz, Rubio, and every other Senator or House member are owned by the money it takes to propel those careers. All these people who have the WH as an end goal take big money from special interests, open borders, big banks, oil, media the list goes on.

Trump is our only chance to get someone in there who doesn’t have to play the game. We will never have this chance again if he loses because we’re dangling off the cliff and that will be the nudge it takes to send us over.

We just went through an oil price spike, that would likely have been much worse had we not been buffering our usage with ethanol.

There hasn't been an oil price spike in at least the last 2 years. Last time I checked, Oil is at a 10 year low.

The only thing that has kept gas prices from going to lower market levels are all of the federally required specialty gas mixes (including ethanol) and the government restrictions on the number of oil refineries. We haven't built any new refineries in 20 years.

Because we are required to use 18 different varieties of crappy ethanol, refinery capacity is diminished even further.

That's what has kept gas prices artificially high for 20+ years!! And the ethanol gas we are forced to use have shortened our cars' engine lives and destroyed most of our small engine devices.

But the biggest lie you repeat is that there is an oil shortage. Oil is plentiful and within our borders.

bothers me as well. It is because there are very few real patriots in our political class.

Even the Dems used to have ‘em - people like Joe Lieberman and Zell Miller, people who stood by principle over party and were for America.

Is Trump one of those? Maybe. It seems to me that he trumpets his own horn way too much. And lacks any social conservatism when it comes to abortion, family values, religious, etc. If he is elected, it may just be all about him or ‘It’s my way or the highway’.

We already have one of those narcissists sitting in the WH. We do not need another.

“We haven’t built any new refineries in 20 years.”

Eh, make that almost 40 years unless you count some small ones.

Trump is a narcissist but so were many of our Presidents. I think their main goals is what defines them and Trump truly wants to get the country back on track. Trade and the border alone would start the healing process.

“Trade and the border alone would start the healing process.”

Directionally good start but I think we need way more fundamentals like reestablish the family and the values it brings, encourage the celebration of Christian values like this country was founded upon, stop the horrible abortion industry, etc.

Trump does not appear to prioritize these much, and they are foundational to what this country needs to heal itself.
