Gotta love how the headline has no connection to what was actually said.

Gee well I guess - having one family’s insurance premium jump from five hundred a month to eighteen hundred a month seems fair ... can’t afford the premium, can’t afford the fine.

We have had universal health care for decades...it’s called insurance or the emergency room.

What we need is, as Trump as stated many times, insurance companies competing across state lines, and TORT reform. We need to fix the illegal problem that is costing our hospitals so much. And, I believe, we need a backup system for those who really can’t make it in life and it’s silly not to acknowledge that certain people just need help. I think he also proposed putting the vets on Medicare - which would be a whole lot better, apparently, than what they have now.

Pretty shallow article. Sound byte syndrome, throwing red meat out to anyone who is stupid enough to grab it.

Everyone knows Obamacare is ass-backwards and aimed at single-payer government control instead of a free market healthcare system focused on reducing the cost for consumers. Many good proposals have been written, and ignored. Trump would assemble a team of experts from the private sectors to make recommendations to CONGRESS which would repeal and replace.

Quote from reporter: "you have said that you want everyone to be covered on health care and the government's going to pay for it."

The government's just going to pay for it?

I'd have to see those words come out of Trump's mouth. I understand Trump wants to see people taken care of, but introducing better marketplace competition would do that without the government "just paying for it". I'm pretty sure Trump understands the marketplace.

I think the reporter is putting words in Trump's mouth. Trump hasn't said that the government will pay for this.

Trump: If You Don't Support Universal Health Care, You Have No Heart

Let's be real. We have provided free heath care to everyone via the emergency room. We have always had the heart to do so - no one wants to step over dead bodies on the way to work.

The problem is that hospitals used to be not for profit. The libertarians decide that they should be FOR PROFIT. (Also, Washington politicians saw a way to steal taxpayer money)

Now, everyone wants the government to pay the bill. It used to be charity distributed by non profit hospitals.

Libertarians also want open borders.

Thank you for posting an honest account of the interview. The previous posting of the same interview as interpreted by NR was as dishonest as they come.

"Trump was then asked, "You say that Ted Cruz is a liar, but you have said that you want everyone to be covered on health care and the government's going to pay for it. How is that not ObamaCare?"

"Well, that's true," Mr. Trump answered. "I want people taken care of. I have a heart. I want people taken care of."

He continued, "That doesn't mean single payer. That means we have to help people." "

Headline written as:

Trump: If You Don't Support Universal Health Care, You "Have No Heart", which is not what he said.

And people have NO IDEA why so many folks dont support the Cruz side.

Yesterday, Mr. Cruz stated that, if he were President, he would repeal the Affordable Care Act and "allow health insurance to be purchased across state lines and expanding health savings accounts."

Cruz is repeating what is often cited as the two simplest, single biggest things that can be done to REDUCE health care costs across the country.

Increased competition ALWAYS reduces prices, and when Health Care companies have to compete for business across state lines just like Automobile Insurance and other Insurance companies do, cost will go down, service will go up and more people will be covered as a result.

The fact that Trump doesn't get this concerns me greatly. Not that the primaries are going to matter when they get to Illinois anyway, so my vote isn't going to count.

The fact that no Republican since the 1960s have adequately addressed the need to reform (meaning: get the federal government the Hell out of it) healthcare shows that anybody who attacks Trump on the issue has zero credibility whatsoever.

- Medicare/Medicaid in the 60s: Republicans did nothing.
- Hillarycare: The grassroots and conservative groups stopped this, not the RNC or elected Republicans.
- SCHIP: Republicans did nothing
- Obamacare: Olympia Snowe voted for cloture, which allowed it to go to the floor.
- Post-Obamacare: Republicans continue to fund it.
