Donald Trump went after Ted Cruz in an interview today, calling him "a total liar" for saying that Mr. Trump supports universal health care similar to ObamaCare.
"Look, Ted Cruz is a total liar," Mr. Trump responded. "I am so against ObamaCare."
Trump was then asked, "You say that Ted Cruz is a liar, but you have said that you want everyone to be covered on health care and the government's going to pay for it. How is that not ObamaCare?"
"Well, that's true," Mr. Trump answered. "I want people taken care of. I have a heart. I want people taken care of."
He continued, "That doesn't mean single payer. That means we have to help people."
Mr. Trump then speculated that Ted Cruz "has no heart" because he doesn;t support universal health care.
Yesterday, Mr. Cruz stated that, if he were President, he would repeal the Affordable Care Act and "allow health insurance to be purchased across state lines and expanding health savings accounts."
Earlier this week, Mr. Cruz promised, "If I'm elected president, we will repeal every word of Obamacare."
The clash between Mr. Trump and Mr. Cruz comes just one day before the Iowa caucuses, where the two men have been jockeying for first place. Mr. Trump has taken a small lead in Iowa in the last few weeks, with him and Mr. Cruz within the margin of error of each other
Strikeout not
not if it enslaves doctors
We have absolutely NO EVIDENCE that Trump will do anything he says he will do. His record is that he changes positions on a dime. He will have nothing but scorn for his supporters if he is elected. When he doesn’t deliver, they will get the full force of his nasty, disrespectful persona turned on them if they dare criticize. He will call them Stupid Losers and really what can they say?
I doubt it, but I'm also pretty sure we're going to find out.
Noting that I will vote for either Trump or Cruz if nominated, please consider the following.
The consequence of constitutionally low-information Trump evidently not knowing about the federal governments constitutionally limited powers is that he is chasing his tail on the issue of socialised healthcare.
More specifically, if he actually knew the federal governments constitutionally limited powers then he would know this. Not only have the states have never expressly constitutionally delegated to the feds the specific power to regluate, tax and spend for INTRAstate healthcare purposes, but there has never been anything stopping the individual states from establishing their own customised social medical programs, Romneycare an example, ultimately depending on what the legal majority voters of a given state want.
And should the states ultimately decide that the feds can manage a national healthcare program better than the states can (yeah, right) then there is nothing stopping the states from delegating to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to tax and spend for intrastate healthcare purposes.
Good points. The more we can eliminate government at any level in our healthcare, the better off we’re going to be.
You didn’t answer the question? I did’t expect you would. That is not why you are here.
No it isn’t - and it’s not Trump’s position either. It’s a lie. If a lying is required to make a point the point is obviously not worth making or paying attention to.
Beat me...and probably a gazillion other Freepers!
I’ll just be glad when we start taking out the trash on Tuesday. You and your ilk have been a blight on FR for months now with your outright lies and distortions. Not to mention the endless spamming of the same worthless blogs and pots. I say god riddance.
Trump followers don’t care about facts. That’s how cults work.
How is he going to do that, by sprinkling unicorn dandruff on it? I plan to fly, too, in order to shorten my commute time. Please quote Trump's actual words, and actual plan.
When Clinton praises Australia’s confiscatory gun control, Americans say they want to take our guns away.
Why does Trump get a pass when he does the same thing on health care?
Good example of why NRO and the rest of the Conservative Media establishment have zero effect on Trump numbers
They take THIS statement and turn into something it obviously does not mean. This sort of hysteric naked lying is not going to work with people. It merely destroies the credibility of the source (NRO) while leaving the target (Trump) untouched
"If somebody has no money and they're lying in the middle of the street and they're dying, I'm going to take care of that person," Trump said.
Because he didn’t say it. People read Trumps words, see what the “Media” claims he says and see the media is made up of habitual liars. They stop listening to the Media because they are tired of these gutter slime political tactics.
I think the reporter is putting words in Trump’s mouth. Trump hasn’t said that the government will pay for this.
Donald Trump: Obamacareâs going to be repealed and replaced. Obamacare is a disaster if you look at whatâs going on with premiums where theyâre up 40, 50, 55 percent.
Scott Pelley: How do you fix it?
Donald Trump: Thereâs many different ways, by the way. Everybodyâs got to be covered. This is an un-Republican thing for me to say because a lot of times they say, âNo, no, the lower 25 percent that canât afford private. Butââ
Scott Pelley: Universal health care.
Donald Trump: I am going to take care of everybody. I donât care if it costs me votes or not. Everybodyâs going to be taken care of much better than theyâre taken care of now.
Scott Pelley: The uninsured person is going to be taken care of. How? How?
Donald Trump: Theyâre going to be taken care of. I would make a deal with existing hospitals to take care of people. And, you know what, if this is probablyâ
Scott Pelley: Make a deal? Who pays for it?
Donald Trump: âthe governmentâs gonna pay for it.
Universal Healthcare means everybody has a card and nobody has healthcare.
Sounds like the Kasich bleeding heart program to me.
Pretty shallow article. Sound byte syndrome, throwing red meat out to anyone who is stupid enough to grab it.

Coming from a trumpette the irony is soooo rich. :D
He praises Scotland’s health care system, just as Hillary praises Australia’s gun control.
What’s the difference?
