Why do the Washington elites hate Ted Cruz?

Why are the Washington elites flocking to Donald Trump in preference to Ted Cruz? Trump, who has thus far been running as an outsider businessman who was going to upend the political order, even boasted about the phenomenon recently. Cruz may be an outsider who is interested in shaking things up, but at least he has been a Republican all of his adult life. Trump, not too long ago, was a liberal Democrat, who favored partial-birth abortion and high taxes.

Jim, I know you don’t take paid advertising, but I sure hope that the blog pimps at least contribute through donations to the freepathon. As they sure don’t contribute anything to the site with their constant over excerpted posts except by collecting the money from advertising when Freepers click on the links.

To answer the question I think it’s because conservatives want a winner and a lot of them don’t think Cruz can win but they know Trump can pull some of the middle of the road voters. If Cruz gets the nomination those voters will vote democrat or stay home. And staying home is the same as voting for a democrat.

Because Cruz aligned with the Tea Party, and has not “gone along to get along” with the GOPe.

The GOPe and the Dems hate the Tea Party more than ISIS, MS-13, Al Qaeda and Hezbollah combined.

The Tea Party threatens their power.

Is it a new discovery that the Washington republicans are liberal and do not like conservative republicans?

The establishment don’t hate him, they fear him. They have all burned their bridges to him. If he wins he presidency, they can kiss their butts goodbye.

No! They “Hate” him. Because he is an egotistical A$% Hole who will say or do anything if he thinks it will win him votes. He is a typical “Politician”.

I don't think this is true. By all accounts Jeff Sessions is respected and well-liked.

It's not his policies or positions. It's the man himself. Now, I'm not claiming that being likable is a prerequisite for political success... we're not voting for Prom King.

But, it's hurt Senator Cruz to be so disliked. The past week or so, he could have used some friends in Washington. But none came to defense. Not even Jeff Sessions.

Only them? They think he's trying to jump to the head of the line -- trying to get ahead of people who've been around much longer, but it's more than that.

He takes people back to high school, reminding some people of the kids they made fun of, others of what they were like in high school when the other kids bullied them, and a few of the debate team chief who thought he was a big man on campus and gave them a hard time.

I know it's silly, but he's got an awful lot to overcome if he wants to be president.

And staying home is the same as voting for a democrat.

WRONG. Staying home is the same as depriving both the Democrat AND the Republican of a vote. Nothing more, nothing less.

ONLY people who mark a Democrat's name on a ballot are voting for a democrat, for all your emotions tell you that not voting for the Democrat's opponent "is the same as voting for the Democrat." New Math through Common Core much, Sad American?

Going to the polls and voting Third Party is the same as depriving both the Democrat and the Republican of a vote AND as well, reducing the mandate of BOTH the R and the D.

Please resist the temptation to apply emotion to material mathematics.

My theory is:
Obama and the Socialist Democrats have circumvented the Constitution for years. The elitist Republicans never stopped them or even put up a fight. Precedent has been set and now it’s the Republicans turn to wield that power of non constitutionalism.
Tec Cruz represents taking back the power and returning it to the people. They don’t want that, so go with the person they can groom. That’s Trump.
