Donald Trump: The Least Charitable Billionaire In The World
News Examiner ^ | 8/15 | Ben Davis

How miserly is The Donald?

From 1990 through 2009, Trump has personally donated a total of just $3.7 million to his foundation, which was incorporated in 1987. In fact, the billionaire is not even the largest contributor to his own charitable organization.

Tax returns show that World Wrestling Entertainment has given Trump’s foundation a total of $5 million in return for the developer’s assistance in working a couple of televised angles along with WWE boss Vince McMahon. The WWE gave Trump’s foundation $4 million in 2007 for his help in promoting that year’s WrestleMania festivities, and another $1 million in 2009, when Trump (pictured below with McMahon) pretended to purchase part of the WWE empire.

The real estate titan’s foundation has also banked $205,000 from media outlets and supermarket tabloids in return for exclusive photos (People magazine, for example, paid the foundation $150,000 in 2006 for the first shots of Trump’s newborn son Barron).

During the past two decades, the Trump foundation has made charitable contributions totaling a paltry $6.7 million.

Helmsley, by comparison, gave $5 million to the American Red Cross when New Orleans was submerged, and, post-9/11, she gave $5 million to the New York Police and Fire Widows and Children*s Benefit Fund.

In 2006, Trump’s foundation did give $1000 to the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Fund, a controversial Scientology program (co-founded by Tom Cruise) that promoted a *purification rundown* for firemen and others who inhaled toxins while working near the smoldering remains of the World Trade Center.

And what do his charitable donations have to do with the restoration of the Republic, anyway? That sort of cavilling sounds like well he ain’t Presbyterian/a Mason/whatever, then I don’t want him.

Besides that, he pays his own way in the campaign.

That explains the last year.

Why did he donate just $300k/yr for the previous 19 years?

I thought he cared about the little guy. Like when he uses eminent domain to his own advantage. Or when he donates to Democrats and Republicans to get things done.

And the Clinton foundation has donated a gazzillion on paper and in the press but have stolen and hidden exactly the same

What I give for charity is up close. I know where it is going. It is much more useful and 100% does to the intended use when you pay a hard up parishioner’s water bill one month.

Whose to say that that*s the sole extent of his charitable giving? Have you researched it enough to know that his charitable foundation is the only vehicle he uses to donate money?

Why don*t you do that and report back to us.

I*ll be here holding my breath.

Still, The Smoking Gun report, which comprises two separate reviews of the foundation's finances (one from 1990 to 2010 and another that wraps in returns from 2011 to 2014), found just one donation by the Foundation to a 9/11-related cause.

Charity is not the proper function of Government. I like a man who keeps his money tight. Perhaps that attitude will transfer to his governing style. Too many policitians see charity as giving the money out of other pockets to people to secure their votes.

You resent Trump spending his own money that he’s earned the way he chooses to? Post # 4 said it best. You sound like a libtard. With your penchant for class resentment, you might feel more comfortable in the Democrat party.

The only charity I believe in is creating job opportunities.

That*s nice.

Have you ever wondered why he set up a charitable foundation if it wasn*t to donate money?

You can trust Trump. He*s not like the others.

No, how about you get back to us? You’re the one making the accusation.

You make a post about how miserly Trump is, and you don’t even know the extent to which his charitable giving extends beyond his charitable organization that you site. You’re a lightweight.

Charity is not the proper function of Government.

OK. But Trump isn*t a government. At least not yet.

I like a man who keeps his money tight.

OK. But that would be a strange position for a devout Presbyterian like Trump to take.

Timothy 6:17-18

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

Remind me again what the sin of Ananias and Sapphira was? Was it not giving all their money? Or was it lying about what they gave to make themselves look good?

Enlighten us then.

Surely a man whose charitable foundation does very little charitable work would be extremely generous in his private life.

Exactly. ‘Somebody’ reviews Trump’s giving and the discussion and investigation is finished. It’s settled science.

It’s like WaPo and NYT doing a search of their own archives re: NJ Muslims Celebrating on 9/11 and finding nothing. Go figure. So if these two rags couldn’t find it, it didn’t happen.

Proof of Trump's charity giving elusive

Even AP is having a hard time tracking down information.

I’ll say it one more time. YOU enlighten us. I have no idea what the extent of Trump’s giving is, and I never claimed to. You’re the one who’s making the claim about how much he donates, and yet refuse to do the diligence to see if the facts you’re citing are correct.
