Need help identifying Objet d'Art

Someone gave us this fat ceramic horse and suggested we could sell it on eBay and retire. Well, okay, maybe make a few hundred bucks.

As far as I can tell, it's a copy of the style of horse made by a Scandinavian artist named Stig Lindberg. It could be an original, but there are no markings to indicate that.

It could also be from the Bling Dynasty, judging by the garish paint job.

Since Freepers know everything, I thought someone here might have some keen insights into this thing.

Someone has painted over it.

I was thinking it had to be painted over.

But it’s missing the hole in the belly area, but has a lot of the other markings - so could be a replica. There’s three listed on 1stdibs.com, ranging from $1400 to $4200.

My guess if the paint is original would be that this is an Italian piece from the 50’s.

I’m guessing replica, but take it to a pottery appraiser if you want to be sure.

Looks like a poorly done reproduction - head is wrong proportion, tail is too big, legs are the wrong shape - plus above all, looks to be made out of the wrong material.

If you listed it on eBay, I'd suggest listing it in one of the collectible categories as ‘Fat Horse pottery ugly garage sale find’, just include pictures, and hopefully someone will imagine something it is not and get into a bidding war.

In the last pic, are those JATO nozzles on the ass end?

Be careful not to break it. It’s full of Greek warriors.

It looks like it is actual glazed on finish and not paint. The detailing is a bit rough for an art piece. Too rough of a texture for an experienced sculptor. But I hope it is a million dollar find. Good luck.

You mean the legs? The little thing poking out is the tail, as seen from the underside.
