Reagan got rid of him when Webb called for a 600 ship Navy, during a time when the Soviets were winding down.
Jim Webb was indignant at Bush’s smirks and his cavalier attitude about sending men into battle.
Webb’s family has been serving our country and has been bleeding in battles for generations. The Bush family has been comfortable being in charge and “calling the shots” for generations.
That’s a very good point; lest we forget, not ONE Republican in either the House or the Senate voted for the abomination called Obamacare. Not Olympia Snowe nor Susan Collins nor even Peter King. Jim Webb did and if he had opposed it, the bill would not have passed. I greatly respect the man, his service and his intellect, but he has a voting record in the Senate that is closer to lock-step Harry Reid than to even the Rep. moderates.
I must say, for what little I could stomach watching that debate, Webb stood out as the only one I could tolerate as being our next President. I would never vote for him, but it appears he’d be better than Hillary or the other socialist/commies up there.
The party left him.
He quit as Reagan’s Sec of Defense because he wanted more ships for the Navy and Reagan wanted less. He was also a republican for years and he’s lightyears more conservative than Jeb Bush and the RINOs.
The political posturing you've just seen is true. If the names could have been changed to enhance publicity, they would have been.
