You need to know three things about the Oregon killings, the latest senseless act of hate directed at Christians in America.
The father of shooting victim Anastasia Boylan, who was shot in the back and survived, said this after talking to his daughter before her surgery about Christopher Harper Mercer’s killing spree at a Rosewood, Oregon community college.
I don’t know how much time elapsed before he was able to stand there and start asking people one by one what their religion was.‘Are you a Christian?’ he asked them.
And if you’re a Christian stand up, and he said ‘Good. Because you’re a Christian, you’re gonna see God in just about one second.’
And he shot and killed them.
Note two things.
First: the father was wearing a “CFL” t-shirt. “CFL” in that particular logo style means “Christ for Life.” I know this because I have a sweatshirt with the same logo.
Second: Portland, Oregon is by far the least religious city in America. Roseville is a mere hour drive south on I-5 from Oregon.
And a third thing. The Bible offers an answer, for all who seek the truth about senseless killings.
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:(Romans 8:31-39)“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Its that kind of thing that drove me away from Christianity. All the talk about submitting, and turning the other cheek, and letting the bad guys win. I am a man and a human being I live in this fallen human world. It is my sacred duty to protect my family. I will fight!
Wouldn’t surprise me one but if this was all pre-planned with assistance from the gov. The cover story doesn’t add up given all of the known facts about the shooter.
Roseburg is about 175 miles south of Portland. I don’t think you could drive there in one hour.
I will never fault the victims but when are people going to stop standing against and wall and hope that they will not be hurt. Take your life in your hands, just like batting in baseball do not let the umpire decide your fate, swing.
I have not heard a single pundit call this a hate crime. “We need to learn more before we know what caused this crime” BS BS BS BS.
And that stinking “President” turned this to a political issue immediately. How can he get any lower than he already is?
Jesus told Peter to sell his coat and buy a sword, Christianity has nothing to do with being a sissy. Protecting one’s family is commanded by God.
Exactly. Its time for Christians to rise up and protect themselves and stop acting like sheep.
Saying that you were driven away from Christianity while saying that you live in a fallen world is incoherent.

“Turning the other cheek” refers to slights and insults not likely to do harm, like a slap. There is a disturbing “Peace and Love” movement in Christianity that is more akin to hippies than to biblical teaching, I agree.
There were some present at that very time who told him of the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And he answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered thus? 3 I tell you, No; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen upon whom the tower in Silo′am fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, No; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”
They did not deny their Lord in the end; To die is gain, to live is for Christ.
Amen.
I pray I have the same courage if/when I'm likewise tested.

THE SHOOTER INSTINCTIVELY, UNLESS REALLY WELL TRAINED, WILL TRY TO DUCK OR FEND OFF AND THIS SPOILS HIS AIM AND GIVES TIME TO PHYSICALLY ENCOUNTER...
BETTER THAN DOING NOTHING
A miniscule knowledge of the Bible and Christianity is a problem. Study all of it and you’ll find the truth. Skimming over the atheist sound bites and assuming they make sense is a problem.
My response is that it's time people started thinking about a course of action for that situation. Better to charge the shooter than sit and passively take a bullet.

Then you completely miss the writer’s point. “When you have done all you can, to stand”. He didn’t say to turn the other cheek, or submit. Our charge as Christians is to acknowledge Christ. These young people are dancing before the Lord today because they proclaimed Christ when they could not protect themselves. I praise God for them. They are heroes of the faith.
