'World will hear Israel's view on Iran deal aftermath' (Netanyahu's UN speech 12pm Thursday)

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu flies to New York ahead of U.N. address on Thursday • "Each time that I address the U.N. I feel the privilege and great honor of telling the truth before the world on behalf of the citizens of Israel," Netanyahu says.

During his address to the U.N. General Assembly on Thursday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will make the case against the nuclear deal world powers reached with Iran in July and sound the alarm on Islamic extremism, both in Israel and beyond.

Netanyahu, who spoke with reporters at Ben-Gurion International Airport on Tuesday shortly before departing for New York, said the stakes were high.

"Each time that I address the U.N. I feel the privilege and great honor of telling the truth before the world on behalf of the citizens of Israel, on behalf of our country," Netanyahu said. "The world needs to know what the citizens of Israel feel about the nuclear agreement with Iran and what we expect from the international community in the wake of this agreement."

Netanyahu is expected to address the General Assembly at around noon New York time (7 p.m. Israel time) on Thursday. This will be Netanyahu's first U.N. appearance since the signing of the Iran nuclear deal. Netanyahu believes the deal, which includes the lifting of sanctions in return for curbs on Iran's nuclear program, will pose a severe threat to Israel's security.

At the airport on Tuesday, Netanyahu also said he will refer in his speech to recent developments in Syria and the dangers they pose to Israel.

During his time in New York, Netanyahu will hold meetings with U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.

Netanyahu said his meeting with Kerry will focus on "the strengthening of Israel's security."

"We will also discuss the peace process [with the Palestinians]," Netanyahu said. "Israel desires peace with the Palestinians who, to my regret, are continuing to spread gross lies about our policy on the Temple Mount. I will demand a halt to this wild incitement. Israel is committed to the status quo; Israel is maintaining the status quo. It is the Palestinian rioters bringing war materials, pipe bombs and fireworks onto the Temple Mount who are harming the sanctity of the place, and it is they who are violating the status quo.

"Indeed, with every passing day it is clear that within the collapsing Middle East Islamic extremists are capturing more and more territory. Israel is an island of progress and stability. I will say all of this and more at the U.N. General Assembly and in my meetings in the US."

The UN is a waste of real estate! Why are we stuck with them? Why is it forever here? Move their base to some third world where they can at least help some economy and do that much, which would finally be something worthwhile . Either that, or get rid of the entire useless free loading gravy train!

All good! I’m really liking Ethiopia! Those fat cats need a taste of Ethiopian food! Who among them will lead the charge to move the UN and alleviate hunger in Ethiopia?

‘World will hear Israel’s view on Iran deal aftermath’

Actually.... If you close enough to be vaporized, you won’t hear it.

I’m going to catch some flack for this, but I think Israel needs a different face, a different international voice.

Be it good, bad, or indifferent, the Western leaders have tuned him out. I don’t believe Netanyahu is sufficiently helping the Israeli cause or her people.

Absent this change, maybe a change in perspective, tone and speech writers would be helpful.

In any case, I’ll continue to dare to dream.
