You are claiming you know “EXACTLY” what the Catholic Church teaches. I would like to know if you do.

I would also like to know what I said or asked that is nonsense.

Oops. I read your post too quickly, and I assumed you must be a Baptist asking a question.

I see now that the question was rhetorical. My bad!

What seminary? How long?...That is none of your business.

Why did you lead with your kids going to Catholic School....I stated why in my earlier response. Go back and read it.

If you DON’T really know what the Catholic Church teaches, but rather have been indoctrinated by her enemies, how will you know?...Again go back and read. My children know God’s HOLY BIBLE truth and the Catholic School they went to reinforced their faith in CHRIST - NOT MARY.

If that was the message that was to be conveyed, the parable would have ended when the Samaritan picked the guy up and brought him to the inn.

But it didn't end there, and the Samaritan's dealings with the innkeeper actually reinforce the broader message that I've read into this.

1. The Samaritan brings the injured traveler to the inn and pays the innkeeper to care for him, then he departs (instead of staying to care for him, or bringing the traveler to his own home). Christ doesn't bring the human race to salvation in an instant. Instead, he leaves us in the care of his Church for a period of time.

2. The Samaritan promises the innkeeper that he will return later, and will pay him more money if what he has left is not sufficient. Christ promises to return at the end of time, and the redemption of the human race will be fully manifested then.

Post 138.

Sola Ecclesia (In the physical sense) is hard to concept to adhere to when the Church is nowhere in sight and I am talking after the Resurrection.

You’ll probably find that the whole notion of an institutional “Church” did not occur to a lot of those people in the early days after Pentecost. For one thing, there was probably a strong consensus that the Second Coming would take place in their own lifetimes. And partly as a result of that, the early Christians didn’t really think of themselves as “Christians,” but as Jews who understood the fulfillment of the Old Law.

Nice try.

Pray for your pope. He needs it.

Thank you, Jesus!

Do you listen? I'm not Catholic. Seriously, you need to read.

You can read that into it, and it is a good thought. But that's not how Jesus explained the parable to the Pharisee. And I'm saying, what Jesus told the Pharisee still applies to us Pharisees of today.

The parable makes for a great analogy. But I can think of any number of ways to read things into it that would be wrong and dangerous.

Maybe the biggest danger of reading into and expanding a theological doctrine off a parable....is to miss the primary meaning. Love your neighbor as yourself. Who is our neighbor? Even the samaratian is your neighbor. Love the samaritan?? You gotta be kidding. He's illegal. He doesn't speak our language. He takes our jobs. He's a criminal. He's not one of us. That's the message of the parable to the pharisee of that time, and to us.

I guess the truth hurts.

No, sin hurts. Truth sets you free. Again, read with precision.

I'm an evangelical, like you. But you have to become less sloppy in the way you communicate.

Don’t get off topic. The pope needs prayer badly. His soul is at stake here. No time for foolishness.

You know that, and I know that. But there are people saying here that extra ecclesia nullus salus means that we teach that only Catholics are in the Church and therefore only Catholics are saved.

In fact Dominus Iesus is very careful to use the word “subsist” because there is an undeniably ecclesial quality to at least some Christian groups not in communion with the Holy See.

This, plus the way the guy on the site presenting the video says that PapaFran is “obviously” talking about the Catholic Church means we are again encountering straw men and people knowing what ain't so.

Yes, I do know. And, if you know, why ask?

What is your impression of your pope after the blasphemy he stated in the video? Do you agree with him?
