“Yup, Trump and Obama are two sides of the same coin, though FReepers are loathe to admit it.”

Are you kidding me? Obama has never been an outsider. He was groomed since his early college days to be a Democrat mouthpiece by power-brokers within the communist/socialist movement. When the Democrat Party was seized by what it had considered useful crazies Obama was a natural candid to be their leader. The Democrats loved him, the hard left media loved him, creepy socialists all over Europe loved Obama. Obama never made a dime producing anything for anybody, he's a shakedown artist it was made all his money from the public till. And don't tell me about the money he made from his creepy, poorly written, fairy tale of day book. Everyone in the know understands that a politician publishing a book is just another way to funnel money to politicians with multimillion dollar book publishing deals. The contempt that Obama has for the average American is evident for anyone who is not a total fool. Trump made his fortune in the private sector, the leadership of the GOP hates and despises him for the same reason the Democrats do - because they are socialist, and you can tell that Trump is proud to be an American. This is because he is an actual American who was not raised overseas as a muslim fascist. Trump is no Obama and Obama is certainly no Trump, thank God!

I challenge anyone in this forum or who is just trolling the site to name one success Obama has had that was good for America. Two sides of the same coin my ass!

Man, I really trolled the waters, here. Let me expand upon my "Two sides of the same coin" statement. Please feel free to Flame Away.

Obama came about as a liberal media phenomenon. He was touted as the "Anti- George Bush" - a new Liberal messiah that would lead Democrats to the promised land. He was young, good-looking (at least the media said so), charismatic, hip, and an excellent speaker. "The Black John F Kennedy" was certainly inferred, if not stated outright.

He took in a LOT of conservatives - myself included - who said, "Meh, he's too much of a lightweight to get the nomination". Personally, I thought that he was all talk and no action. However, many conservatives actually crossed party lines (I didn't, thankfully) to vote for him in the primary over Hillary!, who was viewed as the only legitimate Democrat threat to win the presidency.

Then, BO got the nomination. Lots of people (myself and other FReepers included) said, "Meh, he's a lightweight. No way he wins the presidency." We saw how that turned out.

Obama certainly talked a good fight - lots of squishy conservatives (not too many of those here on FR) actually voted for him. "He's an outsider and it's time for a change!" "He can't be any worse than George Bush!" Lots more conservatives (particularly those here on FR) sat at home because "McCain is a terrible choice.", which was true enough, but he was head-and-shoulders above every other choice there was.

Bottom Line, and with hindsight, the reality was the Obama was little more than an Opportunist who took advantage of a disaffected base, a disorganized opposition, and a complicit media, to ride to an election victory.

Fast Forward to 2015. Here's Trump. He's a conservative media phenomenon. A Two-Fer - Anti-Obama AND Anti-GOP establishment. I don't know about young and good looking, but he's an excellent charismatic speaker, who is popular across political spectrums. He walks like a conservative and talks like a conservative. Smacks around the liberal media, who've frankly had it coming for awhile. Likes to compare himself to Reagan, which is a stretch, but all of these things are good ways to get Conservatives' tongues wagging.

An awful lot of people - pundits this time - are saying "No way he'll get the nomination", and are breathlessly awaiting the moment when he sticks his foot in his mouth. They all think that a moderate like Jeb Bush is the only threat that Republicans have to win the presidency. Especially since Hillary! has simply been awaiting her coronation.

My thoughts? Regardless of his motivations, Trump is an opportunist. He most certainly has identified a disaffected political base, and is an expert at tossing them red meat. Remains to be seen if the media will get on his side - it's hard for me to imagine that they'll cheerlead for Trump like they did BO - but just an even playing field for the Republican nominee would certainly tip the scales in Trump's favor.

Remains to be seen if Trump will get the nomination. If he does, I'll probably vote for him, because the thought of President Hillary!, or President Biden, or President Sanders, is the stuff that horror movies are made of.

The one thing that I can guarantee is that if he gets the nomination, plenty of Freepers will sit out the 2016 elections because "Trump is not conservative enough".
