Obama and Trump: Book Ends
American Thinker ^ | 14 September, 2015 | Elizabeth Appell

When Barack Obama jumped into the mix almost eight years ago a response of excitement shivered through the population. He was an unexpected surprise of awesome proportions preaching soaring rhetoric about how he would change America. He was an untested presidential hopeful, but he filled a vacuum of enormous angst, disappointment and rage created by President George Bush. People flocked to him as a savior, a messiah. His mantra: Hope and Change.

It’s happening again. An outsider, another unexpected personality on the horizon, an unanticipated mover and shaker has jumped into the political dance. Donald Trump is stampeding across the current political landscape like a bull in a china shop filling the vacuum of disappoint and anger created by now President Barack Obama’s promises of transparency as well as his style of his way or the highway. The other candidates don’t know how to deal with Donald Trump, the press is having trouble defining his upsurge, maybe even he himself has taken himself by surprise. And a close to hysterical public is clamoring toward him, fawning, clawing, following feverishly as he bellows his mantra: Make America

You must be a socialist.

Obama is an anti-American marxist. Obama and his enabling Senators just gave Iran Nukes so they can nuke the USA. and you say Trump is the same as Obama. you are sick.
Trump is a pro-American capitalist. complete opposites. Trump is the only non-politician and he doesn't need the rich donor's money.
Trump is the only one not owned by globalist internationalist rich donors. Go Trump!

That's why only Trump says the words “deport” and “Wall”. The fact the others don't say this means they are for more immigrants. Also Trump is the only one talking against china and Mexico. The others running are owned by China and Mexico

Immigrants are moving the USA to the left .If we don't stop immigration legal and illegal then the USA will be a socialist tyrannical state soon.

So all these bought and paid for politician morons are for socialism in the USA.

Snookered ? are you a socialist? what have the politicians done for the last 110 years, snookered us. They ‘ve never done anything conservative at the federal level as government has always grown. Just recently all the Senators voted for the Corker bill which is voting for Iran to nuke us and for obama trade which is about just as bad , the 2 worse things ever: this is being snookered

And let's not forget these sordid details that foisted an unknown Obama on a trusting America:

<><> 2008 Obama's PR person---Anita Dunn--later said they let the media know ONLY what they wanted them to know about Obama.....they did not respond to questions.

<><> Hillary and Bill had pics of Obama in Muslim dress but Uncle Teddy warned them not to use them. Later Teddy and Caroline warmly endorsed Obama publicly.

<><> The Repub candidate...John McCain, Obama's opponent.....told us Obama was a great guy and we should not worry about his becoming president.

“Yup, Trump and Obama are two sides of the same coin, though FReepers are loathe to admit it.”

Are you kidding me? Obama has never been an outsider. He was groomed since his early college days to be a Democrat mouthpiece by power-brokers within the communist/socialist movement. When the Democrat Party was seized by what it had considered useful crazies Obama was a natural candid to be their leader. The Democrats loved him, the hard left media loved him, creepy socialists all over Europe loved Obama. Obama never made a dime producing anything for anybody, he's a shakedown artist it was made all his money from the public till. And don't tell me about the money he made from his creepy, poorly written, fairy tale of day book. Everyone in the know understands that a politician publishing a book is just another way to funnel money to politicians with multimillion dollar book publishing deals. The contempt that Obama has for the average American is evident for anyone who is not a total fool. Trump made his fortune in the private sector, the leadership of the GOP hates and despises him for the same reason the Democrats do - because they are socialist, and you can tell that Trump is proud to be an American. This is because he is an actual American who was not raised overseas as a muslim fascist. Trump is no Obama and Obama is certainly no Trump, thank God!

I challenge anyone in this forum or who is just trolling the site to name one success Obama has had that was good for America. Two sides of the same coin my ass!

Article is BS. Trump is an America first nationalist and Barry is a transnational anti-American. They couldn’t be more dissimilar.

How to abolish the IRS: introduce a bill in Congress, they vote, President signs it. It doesn’t really take a degree in rocket science.

It all sounds so simple doesn’t it? That depends, of course, on Congress even introducing a bill to do this - good luck with that.

Man, I really trolled the waters, here. Let me expand upon my "Two sides of the same coin" statement. Please feel free to Flame Away.

Obama came about as a liberal media phenomenon. He was touted as the "Anti- George Bush" - a new Liberal messiah that would lead Democrats to the promised land. He was young, good-looking (at least the media said so), charismatic, hip, and an excellent speaker. "The Black John F Kennedy" was certainly inferred, if not stated outright.

He took in a LOT of conservatives - myself included - who said, "Meh, he's too much of a lightweight to get the nomination". Personally, I thought that he was all talk and no action. However, many conservatives actually crossed party lines (I didn't, thankfully) to vote for him in the primary over Hillary!, who was viewed as the only legitimate Democrat threat to win the presidency.

Then, BO got the nomination. Lots of people (myself and other FReepers included) said, "Meh, he's a lightweight. No way he wins the presidency." We saw how that turned out.

Obama certainly talked a good fight - lots of squishy conservatives (not too many of those here on FR) actually voted for him. "He's an outsider and it's time for a change!" "He can't be any worse than George Bush!" Lots more conservatives (particularly those here on FR) sat at home because "McCain is a terrible choice.", which was true enough, but he was head-and-shoulders above every other choice there was.

Bottom Line, and with hindsight, the reality was the Obama was little more than an Opportunist who took advantage of a disaffected base, a disorganized opposition, and a complicit media, to ride to an election victory.

Fast Forward to 2015. Here's Trump. He's a conservative media phenomenon. A Two-Fer - Anti-Obama AND Anti-GOP establishment. I don't know about young and good looking, but he's an excellent charismatic speaker, who is popular across political spectrums. He walks like a conservative and talks like a conservative. Smacks around the liberal media, who've frankly had it coming for awhile. Likes to compare himself to Reagan, which is a stretch, but all of these things are good ways to get Conservatives' tongues wagging.

An awful lot of people - pundits this time - are saying "No way he'll get the nomination", and are breathlessly awaiting the moment when he sticks his foot in his mouth. They all think that a moderate like Jeb Bush is the only threat that Republicans have to win the presidency. Especially since Hillary! has simply been awaiting her coronation.

My thoughts? Regardless of his motivations, Trump is an opportunist. He most certainly has identified a disaffected political base, and is an expert at tossing them red meat. Remains to be seen if the media will get on his side - it's hard for me to imagine that they'll cheerlead for Trump like they did BO - but just an even playing field for the Republican nominee would certainly tip the scales in Trump's favor.

Remains to be seen if Trump will get the nomination. If he does, I'll probably vote for him, because the thought of President Hillary!, or President Biden, or President Sanders, is the stuff that horror movies are made of.

The one thing that I can guarantee is that if he gets the nomination, plenty of Freepers will sit out the 2016 elections because "Trump is not conservative enough".

I know this makes a lot of people mad, but why rush in to pick a candidate that has been one of the most ardent democrats ever? His views, although recently changed, were even fairly recently still those we conservatives abhor. We SHOULD be waiting to see more, hear more. He has already walked back some things he said he’d do. That is concerning to me, and it should be to all of us. We have forgotten that the usual thing is to go completely 180 degrees over to the other side of things, instead of looking for someone who is solid. Yes, there is a lot to like about what Trump has been saying and I was thrilled to hear it. But, since he began to walk back some of the stuff, it is giving me the creeps. I feel the country is being set up for the 3rd term of Obama, only with an R behind the name.

All I am saying here is let’s not be too hasty. Yes, we want change, but we want the right kind of change. We want a real return to Constitutional government. We want real answers, not swift answers to one question after another without any real thought. We already have a name-caller and a bigoted president in office right now. We want a return to a presidency that supports the citizenry and the lawful. We want someone who is classy in the real sense, not flashy and unpredictable.

What sheer idiocy to equate a candidate foisted upon us by the media with one the media is fighting tooth and nail.
What sheer idiocy.

I’m sick of the Trump doesn’t give us any details.

I'm a trump/Cruz supporter too. But not blindly. I recognize that he has been a liberal on some issues in the past. In the last few years he has "evolved". That requires more scrutiny than someone who has been a conservative from birth. We've had several bad presidential elections in a row and it's cost us dearly. There is much to like about Trump, but a little health skepticism is not a bad thing.

No one is born a conservative. I’m skeptical of all of them to be honest. We have no way of knowing how they will govern once elected - and those who have taken donor money will dance to their tune. Yes, even Cruz and his H-1B visa program. Not to mention he wouldn’t listen to his staffers who told him McConnell was lying - he chose to believe McConnell - then bellyached about being duped. This gives me great concern that he won’t listen to good advice, but thinks he is smarter than everyone else. People like to talk about Trumps’ ego - but, Cruz has one just as big - but he hides it better.

None of them are perfect. All of them are better than the Marxist alternative. It's risk/reward choice among our candidates.

I think we all wish for a candidate that had the media working for him instead of against him.

But we have to be careful to make sure we have a horse to ride. Not a wish.
