If you have not been preparing for what is coming, you need to get off your sofa and you need to start prepping right now. Just remember what happened back in 2008. That crisis took most people totally by surprise. Millions of Americans lost their jobs, and because most of them were living paycheck to paycheck, all of a sudden most of them couldnt pay the rent or the mortgage either. Large numbers of families that were once living a comfortable middle class lifestyle suddenly found themselves destitute. Well, this coming crisis is going to be even worse by the time it is all said and done, and it is not just going to be economic in nature. Over the past two trading days, the Dow has gone down more than a thousand points. The shaking that so many have warned about has begun. As this shaking plays out, you and your family will need cash, food, supplies and a whole bunch of other things. If you do not already have everything prepared, then you need to kick your prepping into overdrive because we are on a very compressed time frame now.
But dont just take my word for it. A top adviser to former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown named Damian McBride is saying the same thing
A former adviser to Gordon Brown has urged people to stock up on canned goods and bottled water as stock markets around the world slide.
And he didnt just speak in generalities. According to an article in one of the most important newspapers in the UK, McBride is urging his fellow citizens to do some very specific things

I watched that event unfold in realtime. Even though service was restored fairly quickly for the flatlands, the WV areas that were hit were another story enirely.
“Flour + water + heat = fresh bread.”
Don’t forget yeast! Sourdough starter is a way to keep yeast handy for years.
“Many know the Mormons put up supplies. Others who do may just storm them for their supplies. Most likely they anticipate this, and think they are ready to share, but THAT word will also travel far and wide.”
All the Mormons I know are ready for this contingency, just as other peppers are. n1-nit everything is in one location. n2-lead is also stored. Mormons are not like the Amish and self-defense is justified. Beware if you decide to steal from them.
Don’t over look oats.
I am on a mostly oatmeal diet because of food allergies and upon investigating their nutritional value, they are VERY nutritious, keep very well, are easy to prepare, and very versatile.
There’s a lot you can add to oatmeal for variety
I have taken to using canning jars to store a lot of things.
They are hermetically sealed and nothing gets in or out so even if something goes bad or gets bugs, it’s contained.
They can be frozen that way or vacuum sealed, to help prevent spoilage and extend shelf life.
They are not cheap but last forever unless you break one.
Recipes for 101 ways to prepare pinto beans. Preppers are gonna go psycho-zombie from eating pinto beans. :-p
The early Christians suffering under Nero and Caligula thought they were living in the end times, and that Jesus’ return was imminent. People in Europe in the Middle Ages thought the bubonic plague was the end; same thing with hurricane Katrina. All of these historical times present preppers with valuable lessons to be learned about surviving in difficult times.
Can’t believe I forgot oats! I made some for breakfast today. :)
It has among the highest protein of any grain, doesn’t it?
The DOW is up 300 and tickling the underside of 16,000. This “crash” was pretty over stated.
Good idea about barricades. But be sure and cut a few gun ports in the plywood, for scaring off zombies. The ones that don’t run fast enough will make mighty fine eatin’.
I hope so.
It’s jam packed with minerals.
It’s great for regulating blood sugar levels and helping with cholesterol.
I don’t think a lot of people think of oats as a survival food. Rice goes better with certain foods, but oats are more nutritious.
Before the Northridge Quake, we kept sealed plastic trash cans in the garage with emergency supplies..........which got tossed all over the place during the shaking.
This taught me the hard way to NOT store plastic water with the toilet paper...the jugs ruptured and soaked everything.
LOL. The author of The Lost Years of Jesus Revealed claims He was living and studying with the Essenes. Most of us assume He was working as a carpenter. But we really don’t know what He was doing for 18 years.
I see you hail from Ohio. What you’re describing, including your wife’s “normalcy bias” is very similar to what happened in hurricane Katrina.
Except we had an even more extreme form of normalcy bias. We figured we’d been through hurricanes before, no big deal. This one was just gonna be a storm like all the other storms.
Except it wasn’t.
Actually, your comment is what is BS.
My wife is a computer programmer and at her company they had to address thousands of programs that would have absolutely put them out of business had they been ignored. I would imagine that many other companies had the same issues. Y2K was a non-event because of the huge efforts made to remediate programs that would fail. Saying that it was BS does nothing other than put your ignorance on display.
we're going to learn to live better by living simpler in the end....
all I know is I had that holiday off, and we we were going to do it up big for New Years and then my husband got called in to sit for a few hours while the Y2K thing didn’t happen....lol
Now up almost 600.
No need to go overboard, but there's a lot to be gained from living more like our grandparents.
My heater went out one very cold night 3 years ago. I now have a Mr Buddy heater that can run on propane or electricity. It wouldn't be all that helpful for TEOTWAWKI, but will make life easier if/when it happens again.
