Liberals Adding ANOTHER Southern-Related Word To Their List of RAAAAAACIST Terms...
Chicks on the Right ^ | 8/14/15 | Miss CJ

If you can't say anything nice, you must be a liberal. Seriously, is there ANYTHING left that doesn't have racist undertones anymore?

The anti-South/anti-Confederacy craze is still around, in case you'd forgotten. Admittedly, there's a lot that's been going on lately - but the language police are still rounding up words and symbols and history that remind anyone anywhere of slavery in America. It's not enough that they have to dig up long-dead Confederate generals or vandalize monuments or steal private property. Nope. Now they're banning the word "Dixie."

According to this, progressives in North Carolina want to change the name of the Dixie Classic Fair because the term "Dixie" is racist. For. Real. From the article - Councilman James Taylor told FOX8 that some folks find the word “offensive” and some folks are “angry” with the name. He said that as a progressive city – they need a name that “everyone can appreciate.” [...]

The Dixie Classic Fair has been around since the 1950s – and nobody around town seems to be all that irate – according to FOX8. They said their reporters could not find a single person who took offense at the name.

“I thought it was ridiculous,” resident Dina Nelson told the television station. “I mean, there’s no reason to change the name of the Dixie Classic Fair. I mean, it’s a Southern name – but there’s nothing racist about it.”

It's no dumber than a professor trying to get Dixie State University in St. George, Utah to change its name. And as well all know, Utah was such a central point of the Confederacy... oh wait - NO IT WASN'T! I've mentioned this before - "Dixie" was a nickname given to Southern Utah because early settlers in the 1840s and 1850s worked to grow cotton and other crops associated with the American South because they wanted to be self-sufficient and not depend on importing those goods from elsewhere. They planted, raised, and picked their own cotton without any slaves AT ALL. And THAT'S where the school took its name from - it has NOTHING TO DO with the Confederacy! Geez...

What else do we have to ban now? Winn-Dixie grocery stores, for one. By extension, the super-adorable movie (and book it's based on) "Because of Winn-Dixie." And one of my all-time favorite video game characters from one of my all-time favorite video games, Dixie Kong (I freaking LOVE "Donkey Kong Country 2" for Super Nintendo. One of the few times a sequel was even better than the - already excellent - original.)

List 'em off in the comments. What else will we probably lose because liberals see racism under every rock and tree (and Dixie Cup)?

I see strange shifting in body language when I preface something like, “Boy, that was amazing”. This place is like the Brave New World compared to when I grew up.

“Orwell was a prophet.”

Orwell simply listened to the past 100 years of his days with the Marxists ranting this type of crap. He merely wrote how dangerous these pinheads are. Same with Ayn Rand and all the other dystopia writers.

America 2015 has vastly more in common with the worlds of BNW and 1984 than it does with even America of the 90s under Clinton much less earlier 80s/Leave it to Beaver stuff. Most of the GOP agenda today is far left of Bill Clinton and the libs have gone beyond the Soviet Union in verbage if not yet physical action.

THAT is how fast and far we have devolved.

Indeed. And most of today’s political right ignores anyone doing the same just as the people then ignored Orwell and Huxley. The moderates are a complete writeoff and scream TINFOIL!, while the left hums merrily along with two perfectly good handbooks to guide their plans.

1). Concerning the Confederate battle flag on public property, I support the position taken by Donald Trump who backed South Carolina's decision in the recent controversy:

Trump, a Republican, said Tuesday he believes the flag should go. "I think they should put it in a museum, let it go," Trump said from a golf course Tuesday.

Since the late 19th Century, the CFB has become a symbol embraced by DemonRATs and their terrorist wing, the Ku Klux Klan. Never have I seen a Conservative, such as Ronald Reagan, wrap himself in that banner as have 'RATs like Theo Bilbo, Lester Maddox, George Wallace, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, Bill KKKlintoon and Hitlery.

2). On the other hand, I do fully support the display of the real Stars and Bars as a symbol of Southern pride and heritage since, as far as I've been able to discern, it was never used by 'RATs to advance their agenda:

3). As for Dixie, it's not only a fine term to describe the region but a wonderful song. And the previously mentioned Ronald Reagan chose Dixie (Neshoba County, MS) as a site for his 1980 presidential campaign kickoff.

4). And apropos the South in general, this map makes it all clear. By far, the Southern portion of the Republic is the leader when it comes to being pro-God, pro-life, pro-gun, anti-sodomy and pro-liberty. Economic freedom is a distinct trait of the "Solid South" as it stands bravely against Big Labor thuggery with its Right to Work laws. That's why Dixie is the economic force that powers the entire nation!

Not that I agree with Michael Savage but when he says liberalism is a mental disease I tend to agree with him.

I really don't get this - Americans just rolling over when people are trying to rewrite history. We have to remember History in order to avoid repeating it. 360,000 Union soldiers died in the Civil War, including my G-G-Uncle Hiram.

When we wipe out all traces of the enemy, we dishonor all those deaths.

As far as the Confederacy, while the North vehemently disagreed with them, and went to war to keep them in the United States, we allowed remembrances at the time because they fought an Honorable war, as much as war can be. Civilian deaths were low; they didn't kill their POW’s wholesale (although for many it turned almost worse than death in some of the prisons).

We NEED to remember it, so we don't go to war with ourselves again! The South was allowed the same dignity that the loser in a football game gets (other than Sherman’s March to the Sea), but here we are, 150 years later, trying to take that away from them.

It just reminds me how little I understand the leftists...

A broadcast station widely listened to by blacks in the 50s and 60s was powerful WLAC out of Nashville. I bet FReeper fieldmarshaldj remembers that!

The announcer playing the R&B music of that era was John R. who always kicked off his show with Way down South in Dixie! The blacks tuned in to his program, who listened far and wide both in the north and South, didn't object one bit.

Liberalism is a mental disorder. I fully believe liberals do not realize how disturbed they are.
