U.S. Nuclear Target Map! Do You Live In The Death Zone?
Ask a Prepper ^ | 06.22.2015 | Ken Jorgustin

If you live in or near a nuclear target area then learn when to evacuate.

The nuclear targets map shown bellow is based on a number of factors like military installations, nuclear weapons storage and silo locations, bases, cities, etc.. No doubt there are not all of them, as well as other probable strategic locations, but it’s simply food-for-thought.

USA targets nuclear attacks

The primary targets will likely be military installations, while a secondary wave will broaden in scope. A third wave would likely involve strategic bombers mopping up what’s left and probably big cities. The first and second wave could be all over in minutes to an hour.

“The last target of military value, Eaker AFB (located near Blytheville, AR) shut down over 20 years ago.”

Likewise for places like Fernald Enrichment plant and Nuclear Foundry near Cinci, the Newport Chemical Weapons Depot near Lafayette, the Kingsbury Ammo Plant (that has been closed since the 60’s), Bakalar Air Force Base, Grissom, etc.

All of these so-called “Target Lists” come from either the “Nuclear Attack Planning Base 1990”, which was compiled in the late 80’s, or the “report TR-72 High Risk Areas of the United States Report”, which is much older.

With the info being 25-30 years out of date, you’ have to be an idiot to buy these books.

as a child growing up on the Gulf Coast, and a Port City we were always told that we were a target, and that it would be over fast. There would be NO TIME to evacuate, so we made our peace with God a long time ago.

Sarasota. I’d stay there next to manatee river. Or inland, say, Wauchula to Arcadia.

You should wear some sunscreen and wear a hat. It might get a bit warm too.

You’ve been reading to (sic) much doom porn.

Not necessarily. I've been in emergency management and IT operations in the nuclear industry, which tends to take power interruption threats seriously.

An old boss of mine was a map interpreter for the military (Air Force?) during the Cold War. Helped make decisions on where to drop the bombs. It sounded like they would have them on a rotation based on whatever new info they had, and not being able to target all of them at the same time.

I recall a science convention and we were eating a fancy meal seated with a bunch of Russians (1998 or so).

He asked one guy where he was from.

“I’m from Novosbruk, it is a town....”

“Oh yeah - I know where that is. We had that targeted with our nukes because of the shipyard. How about you Ivan - where’s you from?”

He did that with every guy, with a similar response for each city!

I really need a significant Road Trip, I have been in this little town in South Texas for 20 years prior to that New Orleans but at that time I was flying all over, before that I traveled Coast to Coast Hitch Hiking or Driving but I was moving and found and enjoyed many small Americana ... and i need to get back to Alaska ... and I better hurry cause I ain’t gettin any younger.
Your place with Pinion Pines that gets 2 bars (Hell I could actually get work done there and still travel) sounds like it awesome.
I just need to get out again.

This OP is about destroying cities with nuclear weapons. Low altitude events. The resultant EMP would be limited in range by the terrain and the Earth's magnetic field. These events would NOT be HEMPs so the damage to things like the power grid would be limited to the (k/meV) developed and how fast it degrades during propagation. Elko is shielded from the West by three significant mountain ranges and from the East by at least one. So I think your blanket statement the no hospitals will be operating for 48 hours is not accurate.

I have studied EMP a great deal and have come to the conclusion that if you believe in the hype then invest in steam power for the aftermath AND that there is too much hype over EMP - mostly to sell books and supplies. If you are within 50 miles of a nuclear event then you most likely can kiss your electronics good by but not a 100% certain thing.
