Morning Plum: Big majority of GOP voters favors mass deportation, poll finds
WashingtonPost.com ^ | 7/27/2015 | Greg Sargent

This new poll finding, courtesy of CNN, is not all that surprising, but it is very illuminating of the demographic challenges the GOP faces right now: A big majority of Republicans believes that the government’s main focus on immigration should be not just on stopping the flow of illegal immigrants, but also on deporting those already here.

The poll asks:

What should be the main focus of the U.S. government in dealing with the issue of illegal immigration — developing a plan that would allow illegal immigrants who have jobs to become legal U.S. residents, or developing a plan for stopping the flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S. and for deporting those already here?

By 56-42, Americans support developing a plan to legalize undocumented immigrants over stopping their flow and deporting those already here. Independents agree by 58-39, and moderates by 59-40.

But Republicans favor stopping the flow of undocumenteds and deporting those already here by 63-34. So do conservatives, by 55-43. “Those already here,” of course, amount to some 11 million people.

Now, it’s certainly possible that GOP support for deportation is inflated somewhat by the inclusion of securing the border on that side of the question. But even when the question is framed a bit less starkly, as a recent Post/ABC News poll did, a majority of Republicans does not think the undocumented should be allowed to live and work here even if they pay a fine and meet other requirements. This should not obscure the fact that a substantial number of Republicans are, in fact, open to legalization; it’s just that more of them apparently aren’t.

American citizens understand that if we do not retain the rule of law and stop the illegal alien inundation we will lose our country.

Period.

To save the country, mass deportation must take place. If not, we are ruined, guaranteed. History and the present facts demand that someone listen.

We should start by deporting most of Congress.

Yeah, we understand it, but our feckless, useless, representative in Congress don’t care. It matters not what we, the serf think or what the polls show.

Sounds like a backdoor “comprehensive immigration” ploy.

Enter any country on earth illegally, and get caught, and they will deport you.

I fail to see what is shocking or extreme about this.

Make ‘em self-deport. Cut off bennies, and arrest business owners knowingly hiring illegals.

They’ll go running back to Meh-Hee-Co.

The Silent Majority becoming emboldened to speak out to pollsters?

The only way is to set up the system so they self deport. Which means not welfare reform, but cut off all the bennies all together.

And no more anchor babies.

Then we won’t have to constantly hear “We can’t just deport tens of millions of people...it’s just impossible!” nonsense that seems to be the standard fallback position for the amnesty crowd.

Get rid of the freebies for all illegals. Have credit card companies dole out remaining freebies to all who qualify. Gov’t has proven itself incapable and corrupt.

While that would be my preference, I think I could settle for making anything with respect to illegals (support, employment, entitlement, representation, and funding) patently illegal and punishable by real jail time.

It’s called “making this country inhospitable and hostile” to them. They would eventually go home or exist in the shadows, eventually to be caught and deported.

1. Close the southern border. Seriously, close it.

2. Cut off all benefits to illegals.

3. Make it a felony, with a 5 year sentence, to hire illegals and prosecute. Offer a $1,000 reward for turning in employers.

Do those 3 things, and the illegals will all self-deport within 6 months.

Just look at my home state, VA. We let the Dems ruin us through importing thousands of reliable indigent Dem votes, just like CA. Fairfax is now ‘little (pick the Central American banana republic)’.

Actually, a not so silent majority of REPUBLICAN voters, not the rest of the population as a whole (unfortunately), per the article.
