Seattle Residents Rise Up Against Trash Police
IBD ^ | July 24 2015 | Kerry Jackson

t's been said one man's trash is another man's treasure, but in Seattle, everyone's trash is the business of government. Not that it should be that way. But that's the law in Seattle: Food scraps have to be separated from other garbage and recycling material, and compostable paper cannot be conveniently tossed out with the rest of trash.

We've mentioned before here , here and here how asinine and borderline tyrannical this law is. But while we've merely made comment, some folks have taken action. They're suing the city for invasion of privacy.

It warms my heart to hear them complaining now...after they voted to live in Utopia.

They simply pooped in their pants and have now fallen backwards on their butts.

Just simply warms my heart.

I laugh at and ridicule all LIBs. Unfortunately, they seem to metastasize in every community with their malignant ideas.

Uh, you get the government you vote for....

That fascism and tyranny isn’t coming from Constitutionalists, folks....it is coming from your Democrat party.

Your post was the most optimistic one I have read in a long time.
Thank you, Jenny, for stating a way to look at current events in a different way...one that I pray has some chance of happening.

I’m very hesitant to click a site.

It's mine, so no, that's a lot of writing. It's not a blog. There are parts of three books and a slew of articles there like you will find nowhere else.

Ruthless Profiteer!

Yeah, that's me, although I'd prefer the word "offering" as opposed to "pushing." Scary huh?

To the left it is; it's especially threatening to bio-academic whoredumb. I'm cutting the legs out from under them technically, philosophically, and legally. Other than that, I'm harmless. :-)

If officials have time to go through the trash, then they have time to clean mayonnaise jars if they are so inclined.

You mean they didn’t appreciate the dead roadkill deer, skunk, groundhog and my neighbor’s dead cats in the food compost. Heck, we composted cows and horses on the farm.... it all degrades!

While we used the outhouse and moved it every couple of years to a new pit, we had neighbors that were lazy so they would just place a toilet seat over a trash can with a bag in it. They would use it for a while and send it out with the trash.

All the trash ends up in a garbage dump.

Not all.

An appalling amount winds up in the ocean. Having sailed between Hawaii and the US Mainland several times, I can tell you that a thousand miles off shore there is a huge concentration of trash in the water. It took us a week to sail through "The Garbage Patch" in 2012. Some of it is intentionally dumped in the sea, some of it just blows away from coastal cities and some of it is gear lost overboard from fishing boats. It was there before the Japan tsunami of 2011 but of course is worse now.

Make their job even tougher; smash the jars before they are tossed.

Do like the French, everyone dump their trash on the steps of City Hall & the street in front.

Ignorant Yankee that I am, I thought they dumped it in front of the chateau of Monsieur Renoir, Village Matchmaker.

I hope they’re ready to confront an explosion in the rat population.

As a kid in the 70s we had some "ecology expert" come to my school for a presentation.

He asked is there a teacher here who uses an electric razor? And a teacher who shaves with hot water?

A couple of teachers raised their hands.

The man who shaved with hot water was told: you wouldn't believe it, but YOU are wasting MORE energy than the man using the electric razor, because hot water uses more of our precious resources by heating the water.

Sigh.

I've long since realized that if liberal environmentalists REALLY get their way, that not only will it be VASTLY worse for the environment, but "composting" in a huge sea-side city like Seattle will cause rodent problems rivaling the Middle Ages.

If I didn't know better, I think that liberals HATE the environment.

I already KNOW they hate humans.

"It warms my heart to hear them complaining now...after they voted to live in Utopia."

I was telling my (liberal) wife about this, and even she thought it was ridiculous.

Seattle is so fouled up, that if you are a normal person, that is, "conservative", or even "moderate" your vote means absolutely nothing.

How are you going to defeat a measure when the population votes around 80% liberal?

Just look at the moron gay mayor.

He broke the law by painting crosswalks with rainbow colors. By law, there are standards for crosswalks. Alternating white lines.

Can anyone DO something about that?

Nope.

In this city, they began requiring every apt. building unit to be inspected each year at a cost (to the LL) of $50.00 per unit. What recourse one has to prevent this intrusion I do not known, but once the camel gets his nose in the tent...

When food gets scarce, i can see this expanding from checking to make sure there are monoxide detectors, and vents, and special outlets in the bathroom, etc to noting how much food is stored. (And what kind of books you read..)

Surely there is a way to overload the system, so that they can’t handle it.

Then the taxes WILL be raised to handle the problem!
