Yes...fly the flag, but fly it upside down to show we’re in distress with current leadership and the pointedly political meananderings of the recent decisions but SCOTUS. We, the people, have the final say about our freedoms and way of life, not Obama, not the courts.

The melting pot boiled dry. All that is left is the crust burned onto the bottom. (Second Civil War movie reference).

“America is alive and well “

Uh no its not. Sadly we are in big trouble and the kind of trouble that elections will not solve. We went past the ballot box in 2012. Sure if the election of 2016 is allowed to happen most of us will go vote but with how much enthusiasm? How much hope for any meaningful change?

Great Post!

America is Suppose to be a Melting Pot.

E Pluribus Unum

Out of Many, One.

Out of many peoples and cultures we have One Nation.

For those who seek to divide us, it's hard to divide along those lines if you are a "one of everything"

So, to conquer, the left must first divide, Balkanizing America so they can control the different pieces.

They would have this country burn if they could be Kings of the Ashes.

Once upon a time, before "Melting Pot" became a bad expression, people from all parts of the world came here and contributed part of their culture to the American tapestry.
Food, Art, Music, Ethics, Religion ... good Culture.
Nowadays, immigrants no longer contribute, they take.
They bring the parts of their "culture" that the previous immigrants gladly left behind or escaped from.

Used to be a melting pot.

Events of 9/11 and after have turned up the heat by an order of magnitude. Now it's becoming a crucible, and the contents will either join and create a common alloy or the crucible will crack.

"Melting pot"? Yes, in some places. That was the ideal.

Fast forward to present day, and our political elites have largely devolved this concept to what can now only be called a "dumping ground".

The melting pot metaphor is ridiculous and stupid. Never was. Isn’t. Won’t ever be.

For some people, the USA is a place where they can glory in their “diversity” and continue to be who they were without becoming American.

For millions, there is no national American identity. No American culture.
The stickers on the backs of cars say “I’m Irish” “British” “Swedish” “Puerto Rican” or whatever.

I am American, but I find it hard to identify with a culture that doesn’t know who the hell it is and is ashamed of itself; that celebrates every other culture in the world, especially those that hate us.

We've been having arguments like this since the 1840's, when all those illiterate Catholic Irish escaping the Irish Potato Famine showed up in the USA (American history buffs remember the infamous phrase No Irish Need Apply).

Every time we had a major surge of immigrants from a specific area (southern and eastern Europeans from the 1880's to 1924, the Chinese and Japanese in the late 19th Century, Vietnamese in the early 1980's, and now the Latinos), we end up with a lot of anti-immigrant feelings, unfortunately.
