Chrysler just beat Ford in dealership sales for the first time ever

It was a milestone month for FCA.

For the first time ever, Chrysler has outsold Ford in US retail sales, reports Reuters.

Retail sales refers to only cars sold directly to consumers, not counting sales of fleet vehicles to corporate customers. Including fleet sales, Ford moved 223,666 cars and Fiat Chrysler group sold 186,864. General Motors, meanwhile, saw sales slip slightly year over year and sold 265,825 cars.

For the industry as a whole, it was another good month as car sales continue to go up. 2015 is expected to see even more growth in car sales, as the market continues its recovery from the historic low it saw in the aftermath of the credit crisis.

Has Chrysler reconsidered their enlarging the 300 into a new Imperial model like they were talking about 10 years ago?

Oh I know that little white POS well. Always had 2 in the glove box of my Ford. To give my friends with Dodge trucks when it rained so I didn’t have to tow them home.

I haven’t heard anything new on that front. However, when Ford announced the return of the Lincoln Continental, Cadillac followed fairly quickly with an announcement of the return of a full size car to the Caddy lineup.

Yep, how he did that without cracking up I’ll never know.

Also, longer version, never seen this one before.

Have had 40+ Mopars more than 30 with ballast resistors. People said they blew. Never blew a one.

Never understood why GMs needed that dwell angle adjustment on their point ignition cars. Just added unneeded baggage. Worked on some pretty sophisticated motors back in the day.....blew the doors off of Chebbys all day long.

I had a Trailduster once. ONCE (/Johnny Dangerously) I couldn’t keep resistors in that thing in the short time I had it. I try forgetting I ever owned it. The full time 4WD all 3 of the CO’s used in that era was evil as well.

My buds had better luck with their Dodges but ballast blows were a regular thing.

I think that I have seen just about every version and they all make me laugh.

I know several people that switched to Rams. They love them.

I think it was a moistureproofing issue. They didn’t handle things well when things got wet. At least that was my experience. Something somewhere would short/surge and poof. The resistor turned into a fuze.

Chrysler just beat Ford

Too bad they were a TARP bailout whore back in 2008 - 2009, thirty years after their first bailout.

I don’t believe that they were “bailed out” but rather sold to Fiat.

I had a new Charger for a rental car a few weeks back. I was actually quite impressed. It was the first time I have been impressed with a Chrysler product since the 1970’s.

However, I have to disagree. The GTO, IMHO was the coolest muscle car of all time.

I bought a used 1970 Ford Maverick in 1973. Drove it for 7 more years.

Well, the new Charger Hellcat just did 206 mph on a closed course.
