Chrysler just beat Ford in dealership sales for the first time ever

It was a milestone month for FCA.

For the first time ever, Chrysler has outsold Ford in US retail sales, reports Reuters.

Retail sales refers to only cars sold directly to consumers, not counting sales of fleet vehicles to corporate customers. Including fleet sales, Ford moved 223,666 cars and Fiat Chrysler group sold 186,864. General Motors, meanwhile, saw sales slip slightly year over year and sold 265,825 cars.

For the industry as a whole, it was another good month as car sales continue to go up. 2015 is expected to see even more growth in car sales, as the market continues its recovery from the historic low it saw in the aftermath of the credit crisis.

And GM should bring back the V8 Vega. Ford could also bring back the Maverick.

Biggest mistake ford made was canceling the Crown Vic/Grand Marquis/Town Car. Of course they were forced by the regime.

I bleed Ford Blue. But they are ALL pricing themselves into a problem.

I used to have a Maverick, strait-6. Do they build starter cars anymore?

With a 427 SOHC and a 9 in...

I really want to see a 73 Boss 351 Cleveland make a comeback in DOHC form. I also have a wild imagination ;)

I hit a deer about 6 weeks ago and as a consequence my car was in the shop for about a week. The insurance company arranged for a rental, which turned out to be a Dodge Dart SXT. It was a feisty little thing which had some serious scoot. Perhaps Chrysler is finally getting it together.

A lot of the pricing has to do with federal mandates.

Oh I know. But heated trunks and the 1000 pounds of whiz bang electro-hipster crap doesn’t help either.

They always had great cars with pathetic quality control. Lots of cool toys from the pentastar.

Can I still post this here?

It's really a shame that Chrysler took the Dodge Charger, possibly the coolest muscle car of all times, and turned it into a four-door sedan.

And, no matter how fast it is that is a huge foul against the history of the brand. Hopefully they will not make the same mistake if they revive the 'Cuda, the last of the trio that is still in retirement.

What it was and should be ...

Chrysler also has this thing about being weirdly behind the times on some things. For instance I had a ‘78 winnebago camper with a dodge chassis. This thing had a ballast resistor in the ignition circuit. All other car makers got rid of this piece of technology by the mid sixties. Chrysler finally replaced it in the early ‘80s.

On the other hand, they are resurrecting the Continental and it’ll be a big sucka at about 15 feet nose to tail.

Isn’t the Ram pickup head and shoulders above Ford, Chevy/GM and the imports on MPG, content and interiors as far as full-sized pickups go?
