Trump sends Perino into near meltdown

Donald Trump's claim that as President he would build a wall between Mexico and the U.S. and make Mexico pay for it has the political establishment fuming. Dana Perino, co-host of The Five on Fox News was practically foaming at the mouth over the idea.

Perino is an ayatollah of the Bushiban who offers little to the show except regurgitated establishment talking points and mindless defense of anything any Bush says or does. On Tuesday Perino had the following exchange with co-host Eric Bolling.

Mr. Bolling said Trump "was not afraid to take shots at other countries. He took shots at China. He certainly took shots at Mexico. You heard the comment about they send us not their best. But he said I'm going to build a wall on our southern border. I know how to build walls. He said and they are going to pay for it."

Perino grew red-faced and shot back, "Right, on what planet is that actually true? Do you think you can make Mexico pay for a permanent wall between Mexico and the United States? You can do that?"

Mr. Bolling said, "I think that Donald Trump—there's no question you can build a wall."

Perino grew more agitated and shrieked, "And you're going to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it? On what planet could that actually happen?"

Mr. Bolling calmly replied, "I think it could happen," adding, "one of the ways you do it, you tax them."

Perino, now just short of meltdown, ranted, "You tax Mexico? The president of the United States is going to tax Mexico to get a wall for the United States of America? I'm pointing out the U.S. absurdity of a lot of these comments. I get it that he's entertaining. I know that he loves America. He's done a lot of great things. He also has done things without ever having to work with 535 members of Congress who actually control the purse strings in America. When you're the president of the United States, you have no money unless the Congress says here's what you can spend it on. So you certainly don't have Mexico's money to make them pay for a wall between the two countries."

Perino obviously has no idea that according to Banco de Mexico remittances from Mexicans living in the U.S. to Mexico are about 6 billion dollars per quarter. That is more than the country's tourist income and foreign investment income. It is second only to oil sales in their foreign income. Nor does she know that current laws would allow the president regulate these transactions and/or impose fees on these transactions. Under current forfeiture law the administration can confiscate these funds with no court order or other authorization.

Also, tourism from the U.S. is a major part of the Mexican economy. The president has numerous tools to drastically cut that tourism. Plus, these items only scratch the surface of how a U.S, president could, on his own, force Mexico to pay for building a wall.

Of course, none of this is a Bush talking point so it is beyond Perino's expertise. More to the point, since none of this is something a Bush or someone from the Bush wing of the Republican Party would do, Perino will never embrace it or admit a U.S. president has these powers.

She was oddly rabid over Trump; This thread explains why.

I saw this as it happened. The Bushbot Perino reminded me of one of Perry’s supporters flailing as they try and fail to defend Perry’s lame position on not wanting a fence. It all comes down to their being pro-ILLEGAL alien, of course, the wall is a secondary issue. It can and should be built.

Not only could a wall (or high tech fence) be erected, the technology for it all exists (Israel has one and ours could be even better). The vociferous opposition to it for years by the open borders crowd is evidence that they know it would work. Of course it should have been there decades ago before so much damage was done. As for Mexico paying for it, as some posters indicated, taxes on Mexicans in America could pay for it if only there existed the collective will to impose them.

And can be. Easily.

Trump can do it if he wants to

Will he get bitten by the immigration tsetse fly and start mumbling arms outstretched like some Gillian’s island rendition of hypnotism too?

Bricks. My ancestors did it. People I have met. They put up thechrysler building, the Empire State Building, the twin towers.

Trump did it

I think it is gutsy to say he’d build a wall on the southern border.

Yeah, we all know that. Where would he get the kitchen staff for his businesses, the fruits and vegetables they rely on and the laborers for his construction contractors?

"When you're the president of the United States, you have no money unless the Congress says here's what you can spend it on."

Now, who is it that's living on another planet?

(Somebody please tell her about executive orders, administrative regs and unfunded mandates.)

Gutsy how? He has no intention of doing it and it got him the attention he wants. It’s about as gutsy as Obama blaming school shooters on guns.

Does anyone here really think building a wall to force Mexico to keep their own poor is a bad thing? If so, you're a troll - or worse.

The Mexican poor - those with dark skin and semi literate would never dream of questioning their status as second class citizens in their own country - they certainly do know their place. Mexico ships them here to sponge off the U.S. Taxpayer with the added benefit for them that they become a protected class, an aggrieved protected class at that.

Just how stupid are we anyway? Build the wall and make Mexico pay for it!

No need to tell me about bricks. I have been a masonry contractor for over 30 years. Third generation.

I would love to see that wall put up and see the Mexican’s pay for it, too.

....and make them build it as well...

Just set up worker camps.....give them time at the construction camp instead of double jail time....

...and put Sheriff Apaigio (sp) in charge.

Perino sounded like a woman who jusy discovered her hubby in bed with another woman. She is usually the calming voice on The Five. But when they began discussing Trump candidacy, Perino the life long Bush Bot was absolutely hysterical. Looks like Trump has hit a raw nerve in the Jeb Bush camp.

It get’s worse! When you finally realize that all politicians both left and right have an agenda that has nothing to do with your desires or voting ideals, then, you might finally wake up!

Okay, lets start with the truth - all political parties have two things in common - re-election and power. Election is primarily a local ballgame! This has become true because way too many folks are either hardcore (something or other) or voting in a way that they do not want published. (Media Power).

In reality, this almost always means that Conservatives and Non-Aligned (or as they call them Libertarians) vote the same way.

Building a wall isn’t exactly rocket science….the Chinese built a pretty good, er, Great one between 700 and 200 B.C. Mexicans could build it and pay us for advanced engineering consulting required for such an advanced heap of stone.

It’s not the technology, or even the cost that’s the problem, it’s the will. If we could afford World War II, the Moon race, the Iraq War and the Panama Canal we can afford a wall.

I view Trump like I view Michael Savage. I don’t trust them at all but they sure are entertaining. I particularly love how Trump sends RINOs into meltdown.
