Some viewers of Jurassic World are taking offense to the film, calling one of the lines in the movie "racist." Specifically, the abbreviation of the dinosaur Pachycephalosaurus.
During the course of the film, the Pachycephalosaurus escape from their enclosures, leading one character to shout, "The Pachys are out of containment!" This has led news outlets and Twitter users to call the film "racist."
A British comedian originally brought attention to the line, offering a tongue-in-cheek rant against the dinosaur's name. However, people did not get the joke, and are actually calling the film racist.
The Independent called the line "very racist." The Huffington Post called it "accidental racism." Yahoo News called it "unintentional, but very racist." The Irish Examiner called it "unintentional racism."

Yeah, I knew short for Pakistani, but never understood the “horrible” slur that was supposed to be implied from it. And I still use the terms Orientals and Eskimos.
I never heard the slur “Paki” and do not even know to which group it refers.
Things must either be really good in the world, or so bad we’ve just ignored the bad stuff. If people are getting worked up over a line in a movie they have very little to worry about.
I know it was done tongue in cheek, but for people to get worked up over it is just crazy.
I had no idea. My first thought was trying to figure out what people group were referred to as elephants in a demeaning manner. Seriously.
Reading the first comment shed some light on the term.

Social media is insane. You can make up anything, any lie, and millions of idiots will run with it. My favorite lie is that elephants in the circus are mistreated. I know for a fact (a friend is an elephant/rhino keeper at the local zoo) that circus elephants are healthier than those in zoos. Yet the animal rights nuts post some lies and millions of idiots threaten Ringling Brothers. Even from a capitalist viewpoint an elephant is an asset to be properly cared for.
Plus it’s easy to tell when an elephants gets annoyed. People around is suddenly get a lot shorter and thinner.
I thought it meant a dinosaur that was hung like an elephant. :-p

Because it isn’t just used for people from Pakistan, but for any south Asian people, including Indians.
It is like calling someone from Europe a Gypsy. Yes, that is a real ethnic/cultural group (the Romani), but to call a non-Gypsy a Gypsy is an insult.

Well don’t forget that term could also apply to elephants.
Newfoundlanders are often referred to as Newfies.
They don’t get full of self-righteous indignation about it.
I don’t see any differences between that and the diminutive, Pakis.

These retards must have gotten bored with watching their grass grow, so they looked around for something else absurd to gripe about. NO ONE who is sane and has an IQ above their shoe size would consider a shortening of a long and tongue-twisting species name for convenience’s sake to be racist. They would also find a problem with calling a man “Reggie” instead of Reginald, or a woman “Liz” instead of Elizabeth. Man, they are really scraping the bottom of the barrel a la Al Sharpton to find trouble to make. Useless jerks.
Reminds me of an old joke that was told in the early 70s about Spiro Agnew (Nixon's VP). He arrives in Beijing sometime after his boss' '72 visit and is greeted by dignitaries while getting off the plane. "Always a pleasure to greet another Occidental visitor, Mr. Vice President," says one dignitary.
