Donald Trump Want’s [sic] Americans to Pay a 35% Tax on New Cars
Godfather Politics ^ | 6/10/2015 | Gary De Mar

Donald Trump wants to run for president. He says he can beat Hillary. Sometimes Donald Trump has something good things to say, and sometimes he makes me shake my head in disbelief.

...

Here is one of Trump’s economic solutions. “He said Ford and other companies looking to move manufacturing to Mexico or overseas should face a 35 percent tax when they ship the goods back to the U.S. That would bring the plants back home, he argued. ‘That’s what’s going to happen, and there are hundreds, thousands of those deals,’ he said. ‘I will make this country so rich – if I run on the 16th [of June] – just you watch.’”

The first question I would ask Mr. Trump is why companies would spend so much money moving their factories overseas. The answer is simple: it’s cost effective. Why is it cost effective? Because the corporate income tax in the United States is so high when compared to other countries that the cost of goods would be lower and Americans would actually get a better deal. “At 35%, the United States has the highest nominal top corporate tax rate in any of the world’s developed economies.”

It seems to me, instead of threatening to tax corporations 35%, Mr. Trump should work to lower the corporate income tax. Not only would this lower the cost of manufacturing, it would lower the cost of goods for all Americans.

That is the title, of the linked article.

Not sure how that ended up with the main article title, but that was the one in the link.

Do that by lowering taxes not levying penalties. Also, a corporation can do whatever the hell it wants to. Its not beholden to us nor should it be.. thats socialism.

He doesn’t know how cars are made and it shows.

When I made Cadillac parts here in Michigan they were shipped to Livonia where they were used to assemble Cadillacs along with major parts from Canada and Mexico. Minor parts like electronics came from a half dozen other nations.

Its true of pretty much all cars. My factory made parts for Ford, Toyota, Chrysler etc and shipped them all over the world.

It’s not the “corporate tax rate “ that drives corporations to move jobs our of the U.S. it’s the cost of labor.

If workers in the U.S. would work for third-world wages, the jobs would stay here.

My Ford Focus, built about two miles away from the plant where I work (supplying parts to Ford) has 40% Canadian and Mexican content (including a German transmission that is smooth as a glove). God Bless America.

Point taken, but a tax penalty won’t bring these jobs back either.

An assertion made with such confidence that it cannot be incorrect. Unless you consider that the U.S. Treasury taxes U.S. corporations on their worldwide income, effectively encouraging them to set up free-standing foreign subsidiaries.

In other words, an assertion made with the confidence that can only be derived from complete ignorance.

I worked for the same company once before back in the mid 80s. The first job I worked on then were Ford Aerostar parts that we shipped to Mexico.

So you say ignore all of the GOP Senators and Representatives in Congress. Take all GOP candidates off the list as they are all RINOs. That leaves me standing in a field in GA. all alone.

I’m not so sure that Trump is a RINO. I am sure about the majority in Congress who call themselves Republicans.

Trump isn’t a member of the CFR, as is Hillary and a host of Republican elitists.

I do believe Trump realizes that a president’s job is to serve the interests of the US and not the world.

He knows that borders must be protected and that Mexicans are not entitled to our jobs.

He knows that continuing to give all the jobs to the Chinese is suicidal and wants this trend reversed.

He has said marriage is between a man and a woman. He knows, as a business man, that when your money has run out you need to stop spending and that there is no such thing as borrowing yourself out of a financial or economic crisis.

Considering a candidate like Donald Trump isn’t such a bad idea after all.
