Game of Thrones rarely fails to shock, filled as it is with atrocity porn. However, the brutal rape of Sansa Stark at the hands of the psychotic Ramsey Bolton at the end of Sundays episode seems to have crossed the line for many people. It is not like people havent been raped and worse before. Remember the Red Wedding, the beheading of Eddard Stark, and the castration and torture of Theon Greyjoy. But, Sansa is an innocent girl, though she has been getting progressively less naïve as the series has proceeded.

I found it interesting that no one rose up in horror when Jamie and Cersi Lannister were caught having incestuous sex by a little boy and Jamie casually pushed him off the tower, hoping and expecting him to be killed, but maiming him for life.
That is ok, but this isn't. whatever

"for those that did not watch the episode..." And to this I would add ... Ramsey horribly tortured and mutilated Theon Greyjoy. Ramsey was led to believe Theon returned to Winterfell, a house that adopted and raised him as one of their own, to sack it. Theon captured, murdered, burned and hanged two children to send a message to others. A case could be made that Ramsey gave Theon what he deserved ... slow torture followed by castration.

Apparently it took 4 whole seasons of graphic sex and violence on a pricy premium channel before someone finally decided to be offended (because nothing else on HBO is offensive you know!).
Someone on FR I think described the show as what the world would be if there was no God. I thought that was an apt description.

Ramsey was actually the one who advised Theon to murder the two children and pretend they were the Stark heirs. He was Reek at the time.

All that I know is that Sansa will have vengeance, and it will be extremely satisfying to watch Ramsey die in whatever horrible manner GRM has planned.
Theon is such a coward. He makes me sick.

>>Ramsey was actually the one who advised Theon to murder the two children and pretend they were the Stark heirs. He was Reek at the time.<<
And this scene is tame compared to what Ramsey actually did to the females in his life, especially his new bride.

I have to disagree about the hero always getting killed. There is a war of attrition going on. The great houses are busy exterminating each other. Good people get killed regularly, along with the bad. But good people are always emerging as well, and some of the baduns' are showing signs of redemption, while some of the people you thought were good turn out otherwise. Not unlike reality.
In fact, there are good people scattered about in each of the warring camps. Think of the Onion Knight and Ser Kevan, Jorah Mormont, Jon Snow, Stannis, Varys, Mance Ryder, Brienne, even Ser Jaime and the Hound, etc. The list can be extended, especially as you consider secondary characters (who may step up as their principals are killed). Not all will survive, and some may go bad in the end. But more heroes continue to come forward. I don't know how Martin will end the story, but my bet is that the end game will be driven by surprising alliances across warring factions, and that the people who make it happen will be (mostly) attractive characters.
Unless Martin decides to cross us up, and Cersei wins in the end.

As have I.
Which is exactly why I do not watch stuff like this.
