Yeah but ‘’creek’’, you still need lubricating oil, know what I mean?

Once the dirigible started on fire, it is true the hydrogen also caught fire, but if the dirigible hadn’t been flammable then it is likely the hydrogen would have just went into the atmosphere.

Didn’t know that. Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking more along the line of hydrogen as fuel for a nuclear bomb. That’s when the stuff really goes BOOM!!.

I didn’t say it would compete with hydrocarbon fuels. And I don’t want it subsidized.

You impugned engineers in you original post, and I was defending them. If you were being sarcastic in your post, well, I missed it.

And why do they think water vapor is better the CO2 ? Water vapor is the number one green house gas in quantity. Both are good for plants however.

yeah that might even make the case for hydrogen fuel cell cars more compelling than electric batter cars.

Why are engineers so stupid?

Because engineers are restricted to the world of reality unlike amateurs and dreamers who can operate on the higher plane of fantasy where they can have their choice of electricity, hydrogen or pixie dust as "fuels."

Because capitalism runs on the creation of CO2. If it ran on H2O, they would try to outlaw it as well.

There have always been statements made as to a leaking fuel cell, ‘’St.Elmos Fire’’ or lighting along the top dorsal of the dirigible and static electricity because of the thunder storm at the time and sabotage although I believe that was ruled out. Incidentally Lakehurst, NJ is about fifteen mile due south of me. Every year on the anniversary of the tragedy there's a commemoration and over the years the local area paper has carried a witness story or two but in the last few years many of those who were there that evening have passed away.

I was being sarcastic. I was saying that people who don’t know anything about anything “know” that hydrogen is the way to go, while engineers who have actually worked in the field are so stupid that they don’t know that hydrogen is superior to fossil fuels.

You caught my sarcasm. I thought it was fairly obvious. Evidently not.

There is no such thing as "fossil fuels."

Oil and its associated by-products are continuously made through Earth's natural axis rotation and other geological forces.

“... Hydrogen reacts explosively with oxygen....”

Luckily oxygen in not a common element to be found in the environment.

Didn’t know that, thanks. I do know Mr. H is a dangerous fellow. He’s great at making stuff like heat, fuel, explosions(he’s GREAT when it comes to nukes!) water ‘n’ stuff but he IS a tricky fellow. Except for limited uses by us humans(and we make mistakes when we make stuff) Mr. H should be left in the stars where God put him.

Sorry I missed the sarcasm the first post.

There are places that hydrogen as fuel has its place. Rockets, for instance. Pound for pound, it produces more thrust than kerosene. However, a pound of hydrogen takes up far more space than a pound of gasoline, is far more difficult to store, plus a myriad of other technical and safety issues.

It is an interesting idea, but not one that should be government subsidized.

That would qualify as a perpetual motion machine.

Isn’t Dihydrogen Monoxide a green house gas ?

Yeah I thought so.

All true.

However, why are we even bothering with hydrogen or electric cars? We need to petition Obama to invest 18 trillion dollars and develop the perpetual motion engine instead of these intermediate technologies.

Engineers have been using hydrogen for years. What do you think was used in the upper stages of the Saturn V?

Remember Apollo 13's fuel cell problem.
