There are places that hydrogen as fuel has its place. Rockets, for instance. Pound for pound, it produces more thrust than kerosene. However, a pound of hydrogen takes up far more space than a pound of gasoline, is far more difficult to store, plus a myriad of other technical and safety issues.
It is an interesting idea, but not one that should be government subsidized.
I agree. Hydrogen has its place. Fossil fuels, however, are so energy-dense and so much more readily available in consumable form that hydrogen cannot take their place.
